"Educational Requirements/Training
# In 2010, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, no specific collegiate degree is necessary for a high school graduate to become an airline ticket agent. Extensive training on the airline's individually designed reservation system will be mandatory for the newly hired ticket agent before she ever works a live airport departure setting. Training is sometimes in the airline's headquarter city or training center, if not at the individual airport operation center. Training is paid and the new ticket agent will begin a three- to six-month probationary period once she completes the training.
