Hi chaps,

Age 34 with gradual diffuse all over the top, mainly so at the vertex.

Got some generic 1mg Finasteride tabs from GP but not started taking them as yet. I also got pre-finasteride (baseline) DHT blood test done recently.

At the moment my pre-finasteride serum DHT is at the bottom of the normal range, does this factor warrant me taking a smaller daily dosage than the full 1mg? i.e. 0.25mg or 0.5mg instead.

Or does it not really work like that, are there too many other variables involved? hence the 1mg is just the better option despite my current low levels of serum DHT.

This is not about saving money, but rather the lessening of possible side effects along with my theory that (Please note: I hold an BA Honours Degree from the London Institute of Bro-Scienece) the hair loss benefits of finasteride may taper-off years down the road, and so starting at a lower dose will allow me to taper-up the dosage in years to come without ever going over the 1mg dosage mark.

Cheers

you should alternate between .5 and .25 every day, i feel like thats a very effective, yet low dose.

Is that you do, or have you just gone with 0.5 everyday?

Also I read on another post that you mentioned about 0.25mg each day not being enough due to that dosage tapering off in term of its effect prior taking the next days dose, is that true?

i have quite aggressive balding and i noticed a HUGE improvement in shedding when i dosed at .5 one day and .25 the other, now i take .5 5 days out of the week and .25 on the other 2.
