Hello Friends.

I will be starting with 1mg proscar ( 5mg cut into 5 pieces ) shortly and I have a question boggling my mind.

If i for some reason discontinue taking the pill after say 2 years. will the amount of hair loss that will start ( in 6 months may be from the day of stopping) be approximately equal to what would have happened if i dint take any medication

or will it be more than that. - meaning the healthy hairs become dependent on the medicine over time and even they fall off - which would not be the case had i not used the medication?

I know this question might sound foolish, but this is in my mind since a few days.

Thanks !

Yes. After you stop the pill, your balding will catch up as if you never took it.

As far as I know your hair will return to the state that it would have been if you hadn't taken Propecia at all.

The thing I hate is that there is really no way of knowing whether or not the drug has helped at all, so when people say "If you decide Propecia hasn't helped you in a year you can stop taking it", how would you know if it has or not? Even if you still lost hair, you may have lost it at a slower rate than you would have without Propecia, so stopping may speed up your balding.
