minoxidil produced a grand total of zero new hairs for me, so I won't have to worry about losing any 'new' hair...

Grew zero new hairs for you, but you lost zero old hairs. It is possible that they were not lost because of the minoxidil.

Exactly. It's very likely that minoxidil prevented you from losing some density. Once you stop, be prepared for these hairs to shed and continue shedding.

you dont seem to understand what a minoxidil shed is...havent you read other accounts on this site? a lot of people have said things like getting off minoxidil was the worst mistake theyd ever made etc, and ive seen lots of posts from people who got off it warning everyone to stay on it. and they then got back on it.

you may feel like you havent grown any hairs on minoxidil. but most likely, youve continued to lose your hair and the minoxidil has regrown hair in its place.

personally, i think you shouldve just started on finasteride if maintenance was all you wanted. but seeing as youre on minoxidil, dont get off it. stay on. finasteride and minoxidil are a good combo and youre likely to see good results once theyve been working *together* for at least 6 months. if you quit, be prepared for a heavy shed...shed meaning one that most of which wont grow back.

I used it mainly in the forlorn hope of filling in bald temples (that have been bald since I was very young)..

I stopped minoxidil from Jan- to Feb.(2months) and was shocked what it done to me ! I knew what will happen but I never thought that I will go almost bald in 2 months ! I began my treatment with minoxidil with plenty of hair and thought that it did't do much for me finally it kicked *** .

I'm back on it now ( almost 4 months) and I got some hair back...but the damage isn't fully repaired yet...I got some problems at the back and 3 cm up the front with temples which weren't noticebable under minoxidil !
Mid-hair are recovered !

I'm very angry at myself because I think I got temples now which I could had avoided :evil: . The back will come again I think ( I'M on minoxidil 5% Propecia and spironolactone 5%, Innovate) so they sould do something there.

Up front I think thats me, can't imagine that my hair will grow back which I lost on March it's far too much to expect from the medis.


Personnaly I would only quit minoxidil if I hade enough of treatment and wanted to get off everything and get on with my life without any treatment. It's a huge step back QUITTING

Did you use minoxidil only on bald areas or on the entire scalp? For how long did you use it ?

I Used it on the whole scalp ! Diffuse thinner with very strong thick hair on top

I used it for 6- 7 months.
