Hi been lurking about on this forum for a few weeks, thought id ask some advise.
Recently turned 23, not 100% sure i have male pattern baldness however there are a few signs which have made me pay more attention to my hair. One is for the past few weeks i have noticed alot of shedding (80 to 100 a day) i think ive always shed alot as i have pretty thick hair, but it just seems way more than usual. Been told it could be an autumn shed which ive never heard of.
Also i have a few smaller baby like hairs mainly on my left temple (possibly miniaturized hairs) ive heard most people have these on there hairlines, is this true?? ive never noticed them before. Also my temples are looking slightly less dense than the middle of my hairline. I find the norwood chart hard to relate to, but id say im either a 1 or a 2.
Anyway i just want to know whether it would be a good idea to get on a treatment for precaution/maintainance. Propecia may be abit too drastic, but a dht inhibitor is what im thinking. Is Revivogen any good? spironolactone?

Thanks in advance, and sorry you probably get these threads all the time lol

I'm pretty sure you had a picture up here, which disappeared on it the hairline didn't look too bad to me. Apparently yes shedding does go up during autumn but the baby hairs would suggest some hairloss, but at this stage it's hard to work out whether or not you're just heading towards a mature hairline (IMO)

Here's an article on seasonal shedding

http://www.keratin.com/aa/aa015.shtml

The shed cycle in humans has not been investigated in much detail, but a few studies from the UK demonstrate the seasonal shed cycles. Although there is an increase in shedding during spring and fall, the number of hairs shed still falls within the generally recognized limits of 50 to 100 hairs a day

The article has suggested a link with hormone levels eg melatonin so it would probably make sense for an antipodean to flip reverse it, and shed more in spring.

If you are not going to start the Big 3, then try some supplement.

They are
1. Zinc
2. MSM
3. Biotin
4. Emu oil (topical)
5. Folligen

You have to wait for at least six months to see the result.
