HI,
I'm a 20 year old male who has been dealing with hair loss since age 15.
I have been on rogaine foam for three years and propecia for two years and since have not had any long term hair loss. As my main issue has been my hairline, three months ago I had a hair transplant to fill in my hairline from a NW3 to a NW1.5 (which is now starting to fill in).
Around the same time three months ago I also switched from taking Propecia branded 0.5mg Finasteride daily to a generic 1mg Finasteride daily, not because of loss but just because it's cheaper.
For the past week however I have been noticing hair fall when I shampoo or apply rogaine to my scalp. The hair loss is entirely miniaturised hairs about 1-2cm in length, which is far shorter than my overall hair length, and is about 10-15 hairs each time.
Should this be a cause for concern or is this more likely to be shedding associated with doubling my daily intake of finasteride? I thought it could potentially be shock loss from my hair transplant, however the area that is shedding was not within the extraction or implantation areas of the hair transplant and so I feel this is less likely.
I also believe I went through a period of shedding this time last year which I've noticed from looking back through pictures, which I then recovered from - so is it possible that this shedding is cyclical?
If anyone has any thoughts or advice they are welcomed..
