ABout 8 months ago i had longer hair (not overly long or anything, just not really short) and didnt like washing it very well. It got quite itchy and i would scratch it. I went to the hairdresser who told me my scalp was really red etc and i was thinning abit on top. THIS FREAKED ME OUT, and i havent been the same since. I went to my doctor who told me to use TAR shampoo. It seemed to make it better. Recently though my head has been itchy again and i started reading everything under the sun about baldness and it's making me majorly depressed. I have no family history what so ever of baldness on anyside. My 89yr old grandfather has a full head of hair and my older brother has good hair too. I went to another doctor who told me i just had fine hair and told me to use nizoral, which seemed to just make my head itchier. The last few days i've gone back to the tar shampoo and it seems a little better. I dont know what to do. I'm driving everyone around me nuts constantly asking how my hair looks, and they all say i've got nothing to worry about. But i don't know if they are just too polite.
If i am going bald or getting a bald patch i want to get on the pills or something straight away, cause everywhere i've read says the sooner you do something about it the better..but also i dont want to goto a hair clinic that trys to sell me a whole lot of things i may no need. I should add i havent noticed any hairloss on my pillow or in the shower (other than a few when i wash my hair).
Hopefully you guys can give me some advice so i can try and put this out my mind. Cause at the moment it's all i think about and its ruining my life. Im 29. I've attached some pics. The last image with the flash makes me want to curl up and die.

Yeah... you don't have any hair loss. Stop reading and thinking about it.

Also, don't use Nizoral every day. It's a pretty hardcore anti-dandruff shampoo. If your scalp is already red and tender, I wouldn't use it at all.

I dunno, It looks like their might be a slight amount of loss at the top...But without seeing older pictures theres really no way to tell if that's how it's always looked.

Personally I had a thin section on the vertex long before I ever became acquainted with male pattern baldness, Some people are just that way naturally, and If you've been itching and scratching that area that could also be the reason for any slight thinning.

red scalp and thinning are male pattern baldness symptoms. Start finasteride right now if you want to maintain what you have. Popping a pill by day is nothing compared to losing hair.

Man relax...you do not have hairloss.
29 years old, no male pattern baldness in family history, you have full head of hair, no massive shedding...Trust me you DON'T HAVE IT!
Even if you do, it would take really, really, really, really looooooong time to get you're hairloss very obvious. Even then you have some good treatments which would help you.
If you didn't got bald in your 20s, it's very hard that you'll start balding now...

Thanks for the replies. I might just be safe and see a dermatologist. Maybe that could put my mind at rest.

Hey, does anyone know of any forums for short men? I am kinda worried that I am not tall enough (6'3") and I need a place to vent. Thanks

Honestly? Curl up and Die? try having REAL hairloss..

You have no hairloss, I wouldnt do anything do to the shedding effect which could or could not effect that tiny little spot. Stop thinking about it, because in no way do you have any hairloss at all.

yah.....

I don't see much hair loss either, but I guess if you wanna, then I'd add propecia to help slow any loss down.

:dunno:
