Advice on starting RU

Hi everyone
I am just about finishing up my two batches on topical spironolactone. I didn't see all that much of a difference with them after using it for about six months. Others have recommended RU after this so I was considering to give it a try. I have hard RU is pretty effective and a lot of people have had some good results with it. I just had a few questions to those who have used it/know about it.

1.How long is it effective for? For example, finasteride and minoxidil basically decrease effectiveness after a year or so. I was just wondering what the situation was for RU and if it was something similar?

2.Some people make RU with minoxidil and others do not. I was wondering what the pros and cons of this were because I haven't really found a good answer for it.

Thanks everyone!

finasteride's effectiveness doesn't decrease and RU's doesn't either

do not mix min with RU

if you haven't tried finasteride yet do that and do not use RU

What are the pros and cons of mixing min with RU? I have been on finasteride for almost 5 years now.

I just wouldn't risk anything that might ruin it's efficacy

I think RU is extremely sketchy because I assume it would be undergoing clinical trials currently if it was as safe and effective as people claim. Either it's not more effective than finasteride/dutasteride or it is and it's more dangerous. Otherwise I'm sure a drug company would be conducting trials and getting FDA approval right now, but no one seems to want to touch it. Just gives me bad vibes...

it has efficacy problems. By the time it hit shelves in a solution and was bought and room temperature probably would be ruined. Nobody is going to put money into that especially when it will never be significantly better than finasteride. Even dutasteride, a proven stable drug will probably never complete trials for male pattern baldness because it's not worth the money for a company to chase after

Thanks Z., I assumed it had to be something like that. I wouldn't want to trust my hair to such an unstable chemical, but I can understand if that is someone's only option.

To nyhair19: Unless you can't get finasteride or dutasteride then I don't think Ru (or spironolactone for that matter) is worth the time or money. Unless you have super aggressive loss and need all the DHT inhibition you can get, in which case you can go all in on a costly "kitchen sink" type approach. But just be aware that you have to continue purchasing these products for as long as you want your hair...
