Hi there, my first post on the site.

Having read the forums and site literature for the last 2 hours solid I'm no closer to deciding on the right solution for me, the differing products for different types of hair loss can be quite a lot to take in, so I decided maybe it best I put up a photo of myself and explain my situation then ask for advice.

I first noticed my hair loss at the age of about 22, it seemed to happen quite rapidly when I moved country from Spain to the UK and was mainly frontal, I was convinced I would be bald by 25 and didn't really do much about it. I'm now 29 and I'm not bald yet, the hair loss has been gradual and I find myself with the following hair loss pattern -

Having took the photo I was slightly shocked at what I saw, I only just noticed now I have thinning round the crown too, my main visible loss has always been a gradually receding hairline, though after 8 years I think it's been pretty slow. My scalp has often had susceptibility to dandruff from the water in the UK, when I have lived abroad I never get it, I also have very greasy hair in the mornings usually.

It seems that most powerful solution is a Minoxidil/Finasteride combination combined with Nizoral (though I think I will be getting Regenepure shampoo instead), but a lot of stuff I read on the subject seems to say it has limited effect with frontal hair loss so I wonder whether attemtping some of the other products like revivogen/s5 cream etc maybe a better option since they appear to have less side effects.

I don't mind risking some side effects unless it has little chance of working in the first place! Any advice from someone with similiar type of loss would be most appreciated! Thanks in advance :).

Your photo did not load, please try to attach it again. You mention greasy hair, is there anything else about your scalp/hair/health you can tell us?

Thanks for pointing that out, edited my post to photo shows. As for my greasy hair I wouldn't say it was super bad, just that generally after a night's sleep I wake up with a moderately greasy scalp and hair, nothing much else to add other than that.

Everyone will end up suggesting you do the same thing, get on finasteride, minoxidil, and Nizoral. Your hair loss is fairly far along. If you don't want the hastle of 2x daily minoxidil applications then you could maintain and thicken existing hair with finasteride + Nizoral alone.

Those are the most proven treatments, some people like myself like to explore all options that have some sort of study showing they help. There are other options such as RU, spironolactone, Eucapil Tricomin/Folligen, Needling, Retin-A, Oils, Vitamins.

I tend to look at hairloss and the treatments like this:

DHT binds to your hair follicles and because our follicles suck they slowly get smaller and smaller because of the DHT and eventually the follicle dies. Another reason hair can die is because of inflammation on the scalp.

From here there are a few ways we can fix this problem.

1) Lower the amount of DHT that exists (finasteride, dutasteride, spironolactone)
2) Make something else bind to the follicle so DHT cannot (RU)
3) Reduce the number of receptors that DHT can bind to (Eucapil)
4) "Fight back", I pretend its like steroids for follicles to help them grow stronger (minoxidil, Tricomin/Folligen/Copper Peptides in general)
5) Reduce inflammation, reduce scarring, rebuild scalp health (Needling, Retin-A,Oils)

Note these are very generalized statements and probably not very accurate.. its a basic view I use to understand what Im doing.

Depending on how much you want to spend a month and how much time you want to put fighting hair loss you can chose how to attack it but I'd highly recommend getting on finasteride/dutasteride at the very least. Hope this was helpful.

My favourite 2 at the moment for a quick fix are Eucapil and Spectral DNC, but this is a pricey treatment and involves minoxidil. If you're not scared of sides then finasteride is the obvious one but do be careful, if I could go back in time I wouldn't have taken it ._.

Other than that yeah nizoral, spironolactone, RU, etc :)

I actually just "signed" up for the finasteride treatment at my local pharmacy.. heh, have you had lasting effects? Uf, I really hope I'm not one of those who get the bad effects.

Yeah, I'm 99% certain I had lasting sides.. but they may be starting to slowly go now. It's hard to tell really.
