Advice for Thinning Vertex & Crown

Hi to everyone on the forums.

I started researching heaps on the hairloss subject about 2 months back. I was initially told by 1 of my close friends that my crown was thinning. Coincidentally it fits with the time when i started seeing larger amounts of hair lost in the shower (about 15-25 hairs). However i just dismissed him as bullshitting. It was when a 2nd close friend remarked similarly about me having signs of balding that i truly started to take this seriously; taking pictures all the time and reading LOADS on the subject.

The paranoia is driving me nuts, and im sure some of the guys here on the forums would attest to that. 1 moment i think its okay, the next moment i think im really bald. even when im supposed to be out enjoying myself the hairloss just prevents me from doing that. Im spending 4 hours reading through the forums when im having college finals coming up.

The most recent photos i took finally convinced me that i AM indeed balding in the crown and vertex. As for my hairline, i'd like to think that its okay; in fact i think its still a juvenile hairline. Ill post photos, maybe you guys can give me some input?

Im planning to go on propecia ASAP, and also to get a miniaturization test done to confirm what im doing is right. Any additional advice would be really appreciated.

PS my dad's side of the family has HEAVY male pattern baldness. my mom's side not so, she even has a brother who's 45 and still has a HUGE shag of hair.

Thanks everyone for reading through this LONG post!

I think propecia will be enough for you, maybe add nizoral shampoo but other then that your not that bad off, give it a shot to see how you progress before trying to add anything else.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Start on a low dose of propecia and also use Nizoral, and just keep an eye if you have any progress :)

thanks for the quick replies. Im currently looking to get propecia economically. any reliable online stores to recommend online?

and regarding nizoral, is it really crucial to add it into the regimen?

any further input will be really appreciated!

Do the big 2. finasteride and Nizoral. Yes Nizoral.

The Keto in Nizoral in combination with finasteride can help protect your scalp hair even more than just using finasteride alone. The combination also might help regrow hair in those thin areas too.

propecia economically: Propecia is very expensive.Tell your doctor you have a pill cutter and want to cut Proscar 4 ways. Tell him you do not want to go the internet route because of the uncertainty but you are in college and CAN NOT AFFORD TO BUY PROPECIA!

He should at least have some sympathy to the "I am in college, no money..."

You have what rogaine was made for in my opinion. Wouldn't have to use that much and that thinning should close right up. If you started to thin elsewhere i would consider propecia but the sides are an issue. Rogaine in my use has only one side and that's if i use to much, which i learned not to, can cause a raised heart rate. It does work well on the vertex and you only have to rub in a small amount. Your young so you should respond well. jmo

The one thing stopping me from propecia is paying 60 dollars a month for it. The dermatologist pretty much said he cant prescribe proscar because its illegal to prescribe it for off label use and he is liable for it. $60 *12months = $720. Then 720 * 5yrs = 3600 dollars. If your on it longer well your paying possibly 4 or 5 thousand dollars to maybe lose your hair in 5-7 years anyways it just does not seem worth the price to me personally.

Why go slowly bald? I chose to keep my hair. So I get the money, and I keep my hair.

At worst case scenario I would do finasteride from United pharmacy or other sources if I had little money.

I have no sides. Unless you consider a low DHT level of 20, watery seamen, and a high testosterone level of 1100, and a high libido, a side.

Rogaine, (Minoxidil) does not protect your hair from the main cause of hair loss in men, DHT. So you can still continue to loss hair on it.

What about if he'll take Finepcia instead of Propecia? Isn't it the same? It should cost him about $100 per year if he used it instead.
