Hi all, first off, i'ld like to say that this site has been really great, there's so much encouragement and help given here.. really makes me feel glad that there's such a community out there.

I've been diagnosed by my dermatologist last year (i think) of having male pattern baldness, and she gave me 2% minoxidil. At that time i thought nothing of it and just tossed it aside.. Fast forward to now, realised my hair's been thinning but it's not really that bad. Been on minoxidil 2% for 2 months and now i'm on 5%.
I'm wondering if you guys think its ok for me to go for finasteride now? Cos if i remember those hours of research well, minoxidil does nothing to slow down the degeneration of follicles, whereas only DHT blockers /anti androgens do. In that case, it's only a matter of time before finasteride has to be brought into the picture, or at least that's what i deduced.

I know it's quite controversial as to whether finasteride will regrow hair, but if my hair line has moved up by 2-3mm so far, and i suspect i've had male pattern baldness since 18, what are my chances of regrowing most of that back? Would the follicles have died in the 3 year period?

Also, being a poor student, going for branded finasteride AKA proscar/propecia is way outta my budget, would the ones at inhousepharmacy suffice?
Really appreciate the help i can get. Thanks guys

First of all, welcome to the forum. :) I would suggest getting on the BIG 3.

1. Minoxidil 5% or Foam (you are already on)
2. Finasteride (either Proscar cut into 1/4's or 1 mg Propecia)
3. Nizoral shampoo

You asked if the finasteride from Inhouse would be ok and yes, alot of people here, including myself, use them. You could buy the generics if you are on a budget. Also maybe think of throwing some pics of your hair up on the forum (wet & dry). I hope this helps and I am sure you will get alot more replies. There are alot of great people here. Good Luck to you and again, WELCOME!
