I thought Propecia was the big gun. O_O

I'm starting my treatment with Minoxidil (Rogaine Forte) tomorrow; and if everything goes well when I see a doctor, I'll be on Propecia before february. I'm a diffuse Norwood 2.5v, I guess.

propecia is weak and feeble. A great hype with little power on its own.

Good for you.

As a minoxidil vet, I suggest using Rogaine or cheap generic in the evenings, and Dr Lee in the am. Not sure what your daily work or school schedule might be, but for someone who has to be in the office at an early hour, Dr Lee's product makes that morning minoxidil application do-able.

And if the minoxidil doesn't help, you always have that Xandrox 15 card to play in your back pocket to burn those little f*****g hairshafts back to attention, baby!

What Up B!

Question for you and anyone who wished to answer. In about 3 months I will have reached the 1 year mark on Propecia, do you recommend me adding minoxidil to my regimen, can it truly be that effective. I am leaning more and more towards that approach.

Thoughts...

Hey Tony!... Yes, I would say that minoxidil is one of the treatment options that has a more tangible positive effect on hair growth. For people who respond to it, the effects are usually quite noticeable.

Now, consider regrowth as coming in two ways.. there is Class A regrowth, which is the reduction of hairline and growth of hair in places where there was no hair before... and then there is Class B regrowth, which is when an area of hair that is thin and wispy, or diffuse, and the hair here is thickened and strengthened to a condition more similar to the hair in the non-male pattern baldness affected areas of the scalp.

minoxidil, for me, has given me dramatic Class B regrowth. Noticeably thicker hairline. The kind of improvement where people have noticed, asked me "did you change your hairstyle?", etc. Even my hairstylist noticed, said that he is impressed with what minoxidil has done for me.

As for Class A regrowth, the reduction in bald real estate on my temples has been very modest, at best. BUT, it has happened in a very strategic area of my bald temples, about the top 1/3 inch of the top corners of the temples has been reclaimed. Instead of having the top corners come to an abrupt angle, the hairline has been kind of rounded off a bit.

Now, everyone is different, but this has been my result.

Bartman, YES, Dr Lee's minoxidil reduces the 4 hour wait from normal minoxidil to about 15 minutes, for me. Yes, it is THAT much easier to use, no bullshit.

Half the battle is stopping the process of loss due to dht and finasteride is the answer .The other half is regrowth and thats where min steps in .When it comes to regrowth min is essential but I would recommend topical vitamin application as well for I have had great responce with this regimen

Gardner, how long have you been on minoxidil? I have seen great type B results as you describe them and am just beginning to see some type A results. I have been on 5% minoxidil for a bit over 4 months.

I've been on minoxidil 14 months. I'll use two real-life people to help you visualize the effect: I have a Kevin Costner-type hairline.. bald temples, with a center strip hair in between that I affectionately refer to as my "Isthimus of Panama". Well, the isthimus was getting thin, to the point that the hair was getting a bit unstylable... starting to look more like Kevin Spacey. You know, same hairline as Kevin Costner, but unlike Kevin, who can style his hair and still make it look good, the hair would just sit there like a clump. Pretty fucken dissappointing.

Well, after minoxidil, I can once again style that hair. Not only that, but I think my isthimus has widened, gotten thicker, and healthier looking. It is amazing how the improvement in hair quality can make one look much younger, healthier, and more virile, despite the fact that the actual hairLINE improvement has been slow.
