Accutane hair thinning

I'm 19 years old and I finished an accutane course two months ago to clear up my acne.
One of the side effects of the prospect was temporary hair thinning, and my hair has thinned noticably.
I've experienced no hair loss whatsoever, my hair looks even healthier than before, but it has become much thinner and a little bit curly, too.
It's been already two months since I finished taking the drug and my hair hasn't changed yet.
How much time does your hair need to go back to normal after taking a tough drug like that?
Should I start worrying ?
I would highly appreciate any input about this!

i dont know too much about the accutane thinning thing, but i'd say give it a few months to see if you're hair starts growing back. ive seen posts on this site complaining that accutane "induced" their male pattern baldness, which may or may not be true....but then again, ive seen studies that show accutane induced hairloss is a farce (a study was just released refuting the long-time claim that accutane causes severe depression, so we can never tell sometimes). study the norwood scale and see if you're following a pattern. obviously diffuse thinning is a little harder to pin down norwood-wise. the best thing to do is see a derm.

Damn dude. Hopefully you hair will grow back. But I went on accutane as well, and my hair thinned after I finished the course of accutane. The Dr. said it would grow back, it never did and now I have a hair loss problem. They checked my thyroid, blood etc everyting came out fine. So I guess accutane was the culprit. Goodluck

Does it mention hair loss as a side effect in the pamphlet that comes with the prescription? Just curious.

Ever heard of pulse dosing with these drugs? I heard taking accutane or other acne drugs only once a day, say every other day, at lower dosages than what the clinical study investigated, can sometimes be effective with far less side effects. In case you want to experiment...

Is it *all* your hair Frank?

If so then it would not be male pattern baldness. What I suggest is start taking 5mg of Biotin daily. This has been proven to improve overall hair condition even in those with male pattern baldness. Plus take a B Multi-vitamin, as Accutane depletes these vitamins, which are essential for healthy hair, esp. Biotin.

Also I would suggest taking MSM and L-Argine at 2000-3000mg per day. These are also great for improving hair condition and growth. Do this for 3 months and then re-evaluate.

I was on Accutane for a few months when I was 17 (currently 25). My hair did begin to thin when i was about 18, but in the typical male pattern baldness pattern. So I wouldn't assume a correlation between Accutane and hairloss, just yet, unless your hairloss is in atypical pattern such as very diffuse thinning all over the scalp etc. but I would talk to the Doctor first , bro.
