about nizoral and shampoos in general

i recently just started using nizoral and i was curious if too much nizoral usage is bad because it says your only supposed to be using it twice a week. currently, nizoral is the only shampoo i am using and i use it every 2 days(3-4 times a week).

i was using nioxin shampoo + conditioner but halted that routine. don't get me wrong, it was an excellent shampoo but the prices were a little to steep for someone who doesn't have a job(i'm trying to find one right now).

anyhow, what other shampoos do u guys recommend besides nizoral??

i would recommend nioxin to all who can afford it; i was dandruff free and my hair was thicker the 18 months or so i was using it.

Too much Nizoral can potentially irritate your scalp. The active ingredient in Nizoral is an anti-fungual substance.

For the off days, I recommend Nutrogena T-Gel or T/Sal.

Nizoral is an anti inflammatory and anti dandruff shampoo. It works by keeping fungus in check. It may be an anti androgen, but there is some question about this.

TGEL is an anti dandruff and anti inflammatory shampoo also. It works using coal tar and was used in the propecia trials. There is good research on nizoral and its efficacy as an effective weapon in conjuntion with propecia on this web site.

Yes, that is a good move. How about the DHT issue? Propecia?

Actually BruceLee was being sincere, as he usually is. Not that anyone who needed help could tell with all the aforementioned sarcasm..

concerning propecia..it's too expensive.. i'd rather go bald then spend all that money on propecia only to eventually go bald anyway. and i refuse to order it from another country cheap waiting months to get it..but that's just me..anyways. i'm not that bad as of now..but if i do go bald where i can't cover it up anymore..i'm just going to shave it..all the money spent on the products aren't worth it

Not sure why you believed that I was being sarcastic. Fact is, without handling the DHT issue, you will in fact go bald and perhaps faster than you think.

Actually, if you buy proscar and cut it into sixths, the costs is about $12.50 per month. Now if you feel that is too expensive, that is your judgement. Most of us here, don't.

Regarding your thoughts about shaving your head, you could do that now and dispense with the minoxidil and nizoral. Save lots of money that way but you have to pay for the razor blades. Always tradeoffs!

Either way, your choice!

i'm using generic minoxidil so it's pretty cheap..i don't mind spending $10 a month for it. and about propecia, prsocar, whatever. you need a prescription to get it right? anyways, razors are cheap and i have a buzzer..it's not as expensive or complicated as you make it out to be. plus it helps when my g\f is a hair stylist. i get free haircuts, etc...

It's about making a commitment and buying yourself the time until something better comes along. Yes, we will all lose it - do you want to lose it when your 60 or 30?

BruceLee is 53 and he looks good because he works at it and is committed. I'm 42 and look better now than I have in the last 10 years because I work at it and I am committed.

I guess I don't see your logic. I am 54 and still have quite a bit of hair. This was done by using strategies that were adapted over time and circumstances. I recognize that unless I do that, I will be bald and that is unacceptable to me.

So fine, that works for me and I will devote the time, attention and money necessary to do this.

If you don't want to do this, that is fine too. I am just wondering then why you are here?

To the original poster, some feel that the "Use only once every 3 days" rule with Nizoral relates to the Ketokonazole ingredient which can be toxic to your liver if too much is absorbed. ... and as such, to limit any potential problems, they suggest only applying it once every 3 days. It may also be an irritation issue, but from what I've read, its more of a "safer on the system" issue.

So will you some day,, so with this logic why bother doing anything about anything?Hell you will die someday anyway so eat anything, drink anything, smoke anything, inject anything, snort it, drive 105 in a 30 MPH zone. Sure you will not want to do all these things but I think you get my point :)
