A Trip Down Memory Lane

This post may make some people weep, but I think it can be good sometimes to remember when things were good.

The question is what do you miss the most about your hair or life before you had any sign of hair loss?

For me it would have to be how easy it was to get out of the house really quick if I needed to. I could just jump in the shower dry my hair off real quick and comb it back and let the wind dry it while I was in my car. God those were great times, my hair was looking great before it started to fall out. I had been growing it out for about 9 months keeping it trimmed and even and it was just long enough that it covered my ears and mouth. I was living in Florida at the time so my brown hair was getting bleached by the sun and was turning a light blonde. Not to dwell, but my hair was so soft too, I would get asked at least 2 times a month how I got my hair so soft. The secret will die with me out of spite for people with a full head of hair just so they won't have great hair.

Now it's almost f*****g impossible not to have to spend 10 minutes or more combing, applying, and placing hair so there is no visible bald spots. I dream sometimes that I have a full head of hair then wake up to the nightmare that is my reality. I just look forward to the day that I can buy a convertable and dry my hair in the wind again.

I hear ya Cal, cant believe its not cured yet, take heart. Just think how good your life will become when its cured, and it will... I used to be a mak daddy pimp when I had decent hair, now Im a hermit who would go to a club if his life depended on it. Have faith/..... :smoke:

Hmm.... I still have a fair amount of hair... but I also spend minutes to hours trying to hide my scalp from showing and to make it look thick.

I used to get compliments everyday, because i have very blonde hair.... all my friends would say I wish I had blonde hair like you, I'd get all the chicks! (Even though I didnt). Yeah it's like almost white. I used to put almost no time into my hair, and people would say Why dont you do something with your hair! But I didnt care because I was taking it for granted..... but now I'm not taking it for granted and I'm trying to live out the rest of the years that I have hair to the fullest!

One more thing that I really, really miss is people commenting on how young I looked for my age back when I had perfect hair. When I was 23 people would always assume that I was like 16-18 I would always get carded at my local cigar store, bars, and liquor stores because they would not believe that I was 23. At 25 I still get carded at all of these places but only if I am wearing a hat, if I don't have something on my head then I only get carded about 15% of the time. Needless to say I tend to wear hats when going to these places if I need a emotional pick up. I just miss my youth, DAMN YOU DHT YOUR STEALING MY YOUTH, MY YOUTH YOU BASTARD!

I wish I knew when cloning was coming out so I could just start marking the days off my calander until then, but the uncertainty of it all is just bugging the hell out of me. I just hope that it will come out sometime in the next 3 years because I want to enjoy my new hair for a while before I turn 30.

I think the quality of ones life is measured in happiness. I can say without a doubt in my mind that I was much happier before I had to deal with hair loss than I am now.

Cal;

Some will say that dealing with hairloss goes through a similar cycle of dealing with any kind of grief - denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. In hairloss, we add the element of combat.

Once we get to acceptance and are combatting it as best as we can, then life goes on. It has to. If it doesn't, then we aren't allowing the other qualities we have to work for us to compensate for our shortfalls.

I seem to be regressing to anger a lot and the bargaining has yet to pop up, as for the acceptance that will happen over my cold dead corpse. While sometimes acceptance might make a quick pass through my head I doubt I will ever accept my baldness as something that is permanent.

Acceptance can come in many forms - it's ok to feel that baldness isn't permanent. But acceptance to most of us is knowing we are doing everything we can to fight it and stay on top of it, yet moving on with the rest of our lives. You'll know when you get there. Good luck.

I doubt I will ever get there because I plan on dwelling on this until I have great hair once again, not a wig but real hair cloned or regrown that continues to grow until I die. I may die a bitter old man if something very good does not come out, but until that day acceptance in any form is not going to happen.

Unfortunately, you probably won't die a bitter old man from hairloss.

Never said hair loss would be the death of me, but knowing my luck I will die a bitter and bald young man.
