I just stopped to really think about if all this effort to fight the hairloss battle is worth it. Money, time, and most of all valuable time spent worrying about whether or not its all going to work.
I look at my father (bald at 30) and he's a happy guy. I asked him if he ever thought about trying to do something about being bald and he just said he doesnt give a sh*t, hes happy as he is. Maybe thats the attitude I need. Life would be easier with that mentality.
I was thinking hard about why I dont want to be bald and I think it all comes down to meeting someone. I would have thoughts (as Im sure most of you have all had) that I need to hurry up and meet someone before all my hair is gone, because I'll never meet anyone without my hair. Logical, but mostly likely not true. I dont know. Anyway, here's hoping that I can eventually adopt my fathers attitude. There very few things in life really worth worrying about.
Enough of my rambling...

Well its great that your father has a positive attitude towards his baldness but i say if theres something you can maybe do about it early on then why not?.Loosing hair i guess is a part of life for a guy and its a sign of old age but to be 17 and thinning out while your in highschool is traumatic! and shouldnt happen :-x .Im 22 now and i will do everything in my power to keep whatever hair i have and i will fight this Sh*t till i cant anymore.I say if loosing your hair bothers you ,then do something about it,if not then just be happy.. :)

Yeah I agree with Concern. I think if I was 30 or around that age I would be more accepting of it. Since I am coming up on my 21st birthday it is still difficult for me to accept. If this would be going on a 30 I would be much happier. If you catch it early enough though it is not that difficult if you are just popping propecia everyday. I think maybe in time it will become easier to accept. As for myself I do not want to be 23 and look 33.

Amen Kiwi,

Im told I look 24 and im 36. 1... i guess I look younger. And 2 I have most of my hair. Plus working out and keeping jacked helps too :)

I never had problems meeting girls when i shave my head or with hair.

Funny some people say I look good with or without hair. This is from girl and guy friends.

But in my mind I wanna be able to keep some hair when Im not shaving my head.

My conclusion is that Im afraid of 1 thing ....getting old and losing hair is a indicator of getting old :(

Its not the quanity of life its the quality of life

HAH! I'd be happy if it had waited till I was 21, yeesh. I've been losing it since I was 16/17, now THAT'S hard to accept. You think comments are hard to take when you're 25/30, jeeeesus, just try when you're in Grade 10/11. I can't even take some of you 20-somethings seriously just because I'd rather be losing it that tiny bit later in life than right now :(

At age 23 I had to shave my hair because of male pattern baldness. I have been having this male pattern baldness bad dream in my mind since 20.

I am almost 28 now and I am experiencing fair regrowth and I am so happy about it. I think that bald look bothers you as long as you want to be physically attractive for girls.

Off course some people look good even bald but I do not

I am just having a i hate losing my hair day, somedays i think it looks good, i look at photos 3-4 years ago and i think i looked a lot younger

I would be happy at the moment just to halt the loss and thicken my hair a little, my little bro has been using minoxidil for 4 months with amzing results and i have been on minoxidil for a year and finasteride about 9 months
and the best i can say is that maybe its stoped
I am pretty jelous of the little bastard
you would think if it work for one brother these a great chance it will for the other
so thats why i am a bit down on the whole thing
anyway goto be postive maybe i am just a late stater(fingers crossed)

20 Somthingtoo-I was thinking the same thing while in Atlantic City. All those men with hair loss. there had to have been a day when they noticed it and how well did they take it? Did they become depressed like me and get over it? or just not care?

BTW-A/C is the best to scalp watch because they are sitting down with back face to you and there eyes glued to the slots.
I felt normal again for a short period of time while there!

Man don't give up . There is a Turkish Phrase that

"although you're in a lost(detriment),its a profit if you recover in what situation you are."

It's hard to Translate in English but i tried.

I have a friend in his late 30's, seems happy as hell. When I told him about hair multiplication he flipped his lid and said as soon as it is available he is getting it. I thought he preferred the shaved head thing, but I guess I was wrong.

Maybe this is the same as the expression
"Whatever doesn't kill you, makes you stronger"

Nice phrase. Heres a good way to put it:

When you're at a loss, any recovery would be profit.

Deaner-- I know exactly how you feel! I'm 17 right now, and have been losing my hair for about a year. Hairloss seems like a pretty strange thing to worry about when you're a Sophomore in High School, but I definitely know what that feels like.

Anyway, I'm 2.5 months in on the Big Three, and just trying to weather a moderate shed. Luckily, I still have enough hair that the shed isn't too big a deal yet. Let's just hope things pan out for the both of us!

The Big 3 at 17? I thought Propecia wasn't for anyone under 18, so how'd you manage that? :p Anyway, I'm hoping to avoid sheds, I'm only a week and a half into Propecia and Nizoral alone. No shedding, and aside from that, no side effects so far (bitta watery jizz, but who cares). Hoping to avoid sheds altogether, but I too have quite a bit of hair still left. Some of what I've got is just getting finer and less significant as well, so it should be easy to get back. Let's hope we get through this with full heads of hair!

Peace!

I'm 40 this year and the loss still bugs me everyday as I can see it happen from week to week and it becomes harder to conceal. Even though at my age I should just say screw it. I feel I am getting robbed somehow, especially when the Big 3 & Couvre not totally halting the process. I can't do the things I used to do like watersports with friends since my hair definately can not get wet. It takes me 1 hour in the bathroom to get ready. Hairloss definately changes ones lifestyle...

I manage that because my doctor and dermatologist agreed three months ago that I could safely use Propecia, and thus prescribed it to me. I'll be 18 in a month, anyway.

My ultimate goal is to preserve my current hair until I'm finished University (22-24). I find it hard to believe that some people here that are in their late 30's early 40's are so affected by hairloss.

Honestly, if I was 35-40, c'est la vie! YOU'RE 35-40!!! Losing it @ 16/17 is WAY more worth fighting for. But still, it's gotta be hard to lose it even @ 40... just a bit easier than for us adolescents.
