A question about genetics

All the men on my father's side of the family (my father, his two brothers, his father and two of my cousins) end up at a NW2.5 by 20 and pretty close to bald by 30. If I make it to 20-22 without any noticable hairloss, is it safe to say I escaped my family's gene for early hairloss? I don't think I've ever seen anyone on that side of the family make it past 20 without some kind of very noticable hairloss.

Here's some family history...
My dad's side: Everyone has some noticable hairloss by 20 and eventually end up as NW6 (although my dad seems to be stuck at NW5 at 50). They all seem to inherit this gene from my paternal grandfather, from what I know no one on my grandma's side of the family lost any hair.

My mom's side: Everyone has thick hair all their lives, except one of my uncles and another more distant relative. Both of them kept all their hair until 40, then slowly started to thin out.

If I make it past that seemingly obligational hairloss around 20, can I put this fear to rest and assume I won't follow their exact pattern? All my hair characteristics are from my maturnal grandfather, which makes me a little more confident.

I should probably note that I have a NW1 hairline at 18 that looks exactly like my maturnal grandfather's did at my age.

man are you saying you have no hairloss, and are on a hairloss site? Dude, just forget about it for now. Even if you know you will lose your hair, what are you gonna do about it? there is nothing to stop it starting. Just live life, and if it starts, start some treatments if your bothered by it. You will know when if you inherited the gene, if one day all your thick hairs falls out in the shower. DUde, i had amazing hair a year ago and i never appreciated how awesome it was, now my hair is mediocre. and probs getting worse. :sobbing:

I'm having a hard time appreciating my hair knowing it could start falling out any day now. :/
I get a little neurotic about this sort of thing because it honestly scares the crap out of me. Hell, I get jealous of people with hair and I haven't even started losing mine yet!
I think knowing the odds of something like this happening will help me stop thinking about it and move on with my life. I've been thinking about this almost constantly since I was about 15. :/

that's good ...at 15...I didn't even think about it at 21...now at 23...I'm depressed...and is still not bad as others here...but i started finasteride 1.25 mg and keto shampoo...I have a diffuse thinning in the crown...so...hope the meds will stop the thinning to be able to get something like 1500 grafts for thickening...someone said that when it starts you can do nothing....seriously...why are u taking the pills in vain? the hairloss can be stopped thorough drugs...finasteride....dudasteride...and some other...more powerfull...till something better will come in ...you have to deal with these...!

dude i know what u mean with it being hard to appreciate your hair when you know it might not be here forever. But if ur hair starts to go, just get on meds and forget about it, cuz there's nothing more u can do.
