Topical application of minoxidil and oral medication of finasteride have been known as effective treatment modalities for Androgenetic Alopecia. In this study, a mixture of natural plants, such as kelf, black bean, black sesame, and mushroom, was tested for its efficacy to induce hair growth using C57BL/6 mouse alopecia model. Hair growth was observed for four weeks after feeding C57BL/6 mice (47 to 53 days old, n=10) with the mixture and compared with that in control mice (n=10). The greater hair growth was observed in the experimental mice than the control mice, evaluated by measuring hair growth with naked eyes, change in skin thickness by skin biopsy and immunohistochemical staining. This result suggests that the mixture of natural plants has a high potential to be developed as a treatment method for Androgenetic Alopecia.
