I was watching the other day an interview with Robert Plant (one of my favorite singers).
He’s 58 years old and has a full head of hair, almost like an 18 year old.

How do they do it ?

I mean, the rock stars. Most of them have great hair, with some exceptions of course.

It seems that the loudest and the wildest you are, the more hair you grow.
Your lifestyle is directly proportional to your hair density.

For example:
Paul Simon - Quiet lifestyle – Married - Soft Rock = Bald
Mick Jagger – Wild lifestyle – Not married – Rock = Hair
Tommy Lee – Party Animal – Not married – Heavy Metal = Humongous hair

We should all become rock stars and have the wildest lifestyle possible, and then we’ll start growing hair.

Forget about diets, supplements and topicals
Drink half a bottle of Jack Daniels and pour the other half in your hair

Maybe we should change the Big 3: “Fin, minoxidil & Nizoralâ€￾ to the Super 3:

“Sex, Drugs & Rock’n Rollâ€￾

I have wondered about the same thing many times.... Other examples are Iggy Pop or David Bowie. They have incredible hair in their late 50s.

Just goes to show genetics>diet, lifestyle etc

But i still think a good diet/lifestyle will add a small boost to the meds in fighting male pattern baldness so this is not an excuse to live unhealthy

guys who look good tend to live happier, wilder lifestyles. if you enjoy making noise by yourself while people at a party on the balcony above laugh at you or just ignore you, go for it. But it is much more fun to do when you are at the party and people there want you there. Money also encourages active life styles. Every weekend I students load up their SUVs and drive off to go river rafting or do something else relatively expensive. It does not matter that I like doing that kind of stuff if i don't have the money. Sure, i could stop taking dutasteride and other topicals and spend it all on that and try to keep up with them, but they would still have more money and still would not want me around.

it seems like people with skin damage from the sun, expecially older people, are really big on green tea and other health food and sun avoidance, whereas people with perfect health tend to go sun bathing and drinking until they see the first signs of aging.

and plenty of rock stars are bald, or balding. Maybe the ratio is different, but this could also mean it is easier to get accepted as a rock star if you have hair. Correlations don't tell you what causes what.

Exactly. Many people make the common mistake of equating correlation with causation.
