A good sign ?

Hi,

I just started month 10 on Propecia. I think I'm holding on well.

I've had zero sides, other than the nasty itch spots and tender spot towards the back of my crown/right side.

The itching and irritation problems only started after taking Propecia... and it continued for many months.. off and on. I wouldn't describe it as severe irritation, but definately an annoyance.

Well, all that has changed as of late. The past couple of months have been excellent in regards to my scalp health.

Hardly any random itch spots now, and overall I can feel my scalp just seems healthier.

Nizoral 1% Monday & Sunday (let it sit 5 minutes), along with a 1x weekly dose of T/Gel Stubborn Itch formula (3 minutes).. seems to have calmed my scalp down.

I wonder if this change for the better in my scalp health, means that the finasteride is kicking DHT ***, thus allowing for my scalp to feel better?

I feel positive, and I hardly come to this site anymore. I notice very little amount of hair falling out in shower, sometimes I don't notice anything at all.

I also wonder if this is signs of good things to come.... after all, a good healthy scalp is breeding ground for good healthy hairs.

I hope.

I've had this strange feeling in my scalp from time to time, similar to what you describe, since I started propecia and 1% nizoral. It's nice to know that I have hope of it going away. I was worried that it might be a bad sign, but I haven't noticed as many hairs falling out throughout the day or in the shower as I did at the beginning. I'm only 2.5 months in though, so who knows what the future may bring.

Anyway, it looks like your having some luck with your regimen. It's nice to hear a little good news every now and then.

same here, i had a perpetual hair fall out rate where i would notice hairs on my papers as I was studying, and on my keyboard etc. Not SHEDS, but just your typical male pattern baldness extra fallout. i don't even remember the last time I saw one hair now. I'll be sitting over a piece of white paper for fifteen hours a day, and won't see one hair. I think around months 8-10 are big turn around points, and people definitely need to know that so they don't quit prematurely.

Thanks for the encouragement fellas...

I do think I'm a responder... then again, they say 9 out of 10 of us are, right?

:)

.. It's exciting to be approaching my one year on finasteride mark.

yo misterium

I also just passed the 10 month mark. I am currently losing more hair,
I think my hair already looked better.
On the other hand, my skin is now worse than ever any my body is itching all over. Most likely it's the stress I had in the last months.

One question: how often do you use nizoral?
I always had problems with my scalp, so I am using it for some years now.
Recently, I have the feeling that it does dry out my hair.
Would you recommend using a very mild baby shampoo?

^ sorry to hear you are still losing more hair.

I've had zero sides (other than the itch scalp, which has subsided).

I use Nizoral on Monday and on Friday. I let it sit on my scalp for about 5 minutes, then follow with a conditioner which I also let sit for a few minutes before rinsing.

1x weekly I use T-Gel Stubborn Itch Formula.. otherwise I use other brands.

I would suggest holding off on the nizoral if it is drying your scalp out... give it a few weeks without use, and see if it helps. Make sure you are using a good quality conditioner after each shampoo also.
