What percentage of alcohol is best for this? I currently use lace release - is this just as good?

91 and 99 are good. 70 is not.

I would imagine its similar. I've never used it, it's main ingredient is alcohol with fragrance. It also contains mineral oil which is a bad idea for a system.
I think you're worrying way too much about this. 91% is appropriate, available everywhere, and dirt cheap.

Ya, Lace Release works marginally faster but it's not worth buying & unecessarily introducing oil to the situation. 91-99 is where you want to be.
