Well, My hair has diffinately gotten worse. I realised it today when i saw friend who i hadnt seen for like 6 month. He noticed that my had receded "heeps". When i apply the minoxidil, i get all these little hairs which you can bairly see ( they have been screwed by DHT). Any suggestions guys, im thinking of giving up and im only 20....
I have also tried propecia for over a year with no results. Maybe im not a responder...? I have been off and on with minoxidil, now im sticking to it even if its a once a day application...

Sounds like you've got an aggressive case of male pattern baldness. A last resort with a chance of working would be topical R.U.

On a different note, Dermmatch is a good concealer, and well worth a try as it can improve the way your hair looks quite significantly in some cases.

I would say give the dutasteride a few more months, you havent got anything to lose at this stage. If you add a topical androgen inhibitor use it with dutasteride not instead of.

Unfortunately you have to make the buy the chemical ingredient and make the RU topical yourself. do a search and you can find lots of info on it.

Alternatively try Fluridil which many people have reported success with.

RU58841. It's not widely available but some people on other hairloss forums have found it effective. It's important to note, many people found duta to cause them to seemingly receed faster than when they were on finasteride. Perhaps try adding 5% spironolactone cream to your temples to offset any testosterone increase from the duta which may be causing damage.

Personally i'd use nizoral 2% 3-4 x a week if i were in your shoes. And i think one needs to stay with finasteride for 18 months to really judge it's merit. I've heard quite a few guys saying it took 18 months before they saw improvement.

Yeah i used finasteride since i was 18.5 till around 20ish. I saw no improvementand thats why i went for dutasteride. I will continue dutasteride for at least another year, as i havent yet suffered from any side affects.

Isnt nizoral 2% 3-4 too much? But i will give it a go if it will help!

Isnt dutasteride supposed to stop formation of dht? why does it increse testosterone?

Where is the cheapest place to get spironolactone?

Thanks for your help, im sure you are helping other members also with your advice :) [/quote]

I'd use it as often as you can handle especially at the front, it's active ingredient has a definite antiandrogenic effect and that's almost certainly what's damaging your hair. Make sure you massage it in good into your "problem areas" and leave it on for 10 mins or so before you wash it out. Then use a mild shampoo on alternate days.

Dr. Lee sells 5% spironolactone, i'd recommend that over the 2% liquid version.

http://www.minoxidil.com

Or you can get nizoral 2% & spironolactone 5% here...

dutasteride increases testosterone as it prevents the test from converting to dht, thus leaving excess test circulating in one's system. I think there's some study that shows that dutasteride increases scalp testosterone but i may be wrong.

If you gave finasteride 18 months, and your 6 months into using duta, you'd be silly to stop duta now. Reassess in 6 months time. spironolactone 5% or Fluridil at the temples should "cover you" for the test increase. Nizoral will also help.

In addition, believe in your regimen, those who think they will fail usually do.

Good luck.
