8 Year Update On Hairline And Questions

Hey there! When I was 17 I made a post on here regarding my hairline (the usual fear). I'm now posting, still with hair at a month away from 26. I believe I have suffered some recession (crown seems fine) and would like to hear your guys thoughts on the matter. My family history is incredibly mixed.. I believe my maternal grandfather kept the majority of his hair up until his 40's and is now not completely bald, but has certainly lost most of it. My father is fully bald in his mid 40's, but his two brothers and father have kept an almost full head of thick black hair with unnoticeable loss (what you might call a mature hairline, possibly a little further back)

I have attached pictures of when I was 17, and pictures of now. I understand that i have what looks like a lot of thinning (specifically on the one side of my hairline) but I'm not sure if that's actually recession. You see for a good 8-10 months last year, I wore a very tight ponytail but would often leave the better looking side of my hairline down.. Is it possible to tell the difference between male pattern baldness and traction alopecia? Also during my teen years I would straighten my fringe and pull on it like there was no tomorrow. Wishful thinking perhaps.

I understand that it's such a complex matter.. My main questions are should I be concerned as it is right now, and what action should I take if so (I won't be going down without a fight)? Thankyou very much and I wish you all the best!

Edit: I should add that with the two pictures of my hairline head on, one of them are flipped.

17 was far to young yo worry but as you approach thirty it is alot more likely that hairloss will accelerate......imo your hair is showing signs of early male pattern baldness....your about a nw2-2.5. it wouldn't hurt to see a derm to confirm and also give finasteride a try esp with your family history. Goodluck in we you choose.

I live in the UK.. would I have to pay for an appointment with a derm? And would they be able to give me definitive confirmation? Thankyou!

UPDATE

I should add that I have never really had hair at my temples, and have always had this widows peak thing going on from birth

I believe I've made a mistake describing my (especially maternal) family history

My maternal grandfather is not bald. He actually had a pretty damn good hairline right up until around 60! And my two uncles apparently actually still have good hair for their age. I believe in that in the past two generations of my family on both sides, it is only my father that has gone bald. I have also established that my fathers hairline was worse than mine is when he was at my age

The pictures i have attached are of my maternal grandfather aged 50ish. My paternal grandfather and uncles all have fantastic hair (even better than my maternal grandfathers) Are my chances better because of this?
