wassup guys ? I'm disappointed

I'm using minoxi 5% for six months once at day (I'm using it once at day because of my schedule and I'm going to serve in the army in 2 months from now and I hope I'll be able to use minoxi even once at day) and the shedding not stopping. Right now I don't really see worse situation but I don't see improvement either. I read somewhere that there are people that have constantly shedding but they growing back and they don't have thin hair or bald spot. Is minoxi not work for me or I'm part of the people that they have constantly shedding and doesn't have bald spot (I know I will be bald one day) or my shedding that continues for 6 months now is the hair cycle that suppose to be from using minoxi ? if minoxi really doesn't work for me might rogaine for me ? Or other minoxi ? Maybe Kirkland's ? Or the 15% version ? Please help me the shedding driving me crazy and I'm really sad about that :(

here are some pictures that I took when I first realized that I'm starting losing my hair:

here are some pictures from now after I had an hair cut 2 days ago (this haircut is the shortest one I have ever did):

I have some old pictures of my temples but I can't take some new ones right now because my hair is too short to take some pictures of them and I'll update with the pictures of them when I'll be able to take some pictures of them.

so what do you think ? is there any improvements ? better/worst situation ? I'll be glad to read some comments about that from you.

p.s, why can I see my scalp through the hair ? is it suppose to be like that ? I saw some people that you can see their scalp through the hair but they don't have symptoms of male pattern baldness and I saw also people that have shorter haircuts and their hair looks full, perfect.

here is my regime:
minoxi 5% once at day - in the evening
nizoral - twice a week
Xerial P - 3 times a week

Hi,

you have a normal form of male pattern baldness (Male Pattern Balding).
You have to go on finasteride 1mg in the form of Propecia,
which is expensive or on Proscar (1/4 every day) which is much cheaper
(you are 18 right, so that's no problem).
Go to see a doctor who is willing to prescribe you the genuine stuff, it's worth
the travel and talking, trust me. There are plenty of docs who know
already about all that and will just give you your prescription after seeing you.

Minoxidil works best together with finasteride an that's already the best you can do.

Going to army and using minoxidil sounds unrealistic. They will tease you and
you will have a lot of spontaneous situations for example a few days outside
and so on. But you would be still able to use Proscar, I guess. That's already not
that bad but minoxidil and Proscar together is of course better.

all the best

The thing with the shedding:

I know exactly what you are talking about. Again you have to go on finasteride
I would keep up the minoxidil as well. Don't pay attention to the shedding unless you are
on finasteride and minoxidil longer than 6-8 Month.
You will always have a little shedding along the way, when you start finasteride now
I would almost promise you that the shedding will reduce drastically in the next 4 to 6 month.

thank you for your great answer ! i'm scared of drugs that i don't know what's the side effects after long use. i used roaccutane and i'm sure that this f***ed medicine speeded up my male pattern baldness !!

i don't think that other soldiers will tease me but if they do i don't care because at least i know i'm trying to do something about my hairloss. lets say i knew that the drug don't have any side effects i wouldn't take that because it's too expensive and i don't think i'll be able to effort that.

i just want to know ... will the shedding going to stop ? i mean from using minoxi only ? will my hair regrow some day from using minoxi only ?.. is it a good sign that i have this shed (i mean the hairs that fall will grow healthier and thicker) ?..

Hi mosheg91,

I highly recommend using finasteride 1mg, at least test it for
several month. To be honest you have to give the whole treatment
a year.

Will Minoxidil stop your male pattern baldness ?

No, definitely not. Minoxidil will "reanimate" damaged hair roots.

It's the finasteride that is at least reducing the male pattern baldness-process very
effectively.

Minoxidil and finasteride are a team like Starsky and Hutch :)

I went through the same stuff with the shedding.
Nobody can really tell what is happening. Heavy shedding
means maybe that it's working, but as I said minoxidil will not stop
male pattern baldness.

I think finasteride in form of proscar should be affordable.
Side effects are in general not that common, note that finasteride is the
weakest anti-androgen. It also will metabolize very quickly.

The next difficult step is to see a doctor who is willing to prescripe you
finasteride 1 mg in form of proscar. My advice is stick to it a full year.
Then make a decision.

A good source of information is also:

http://www.baldingblog.com/

http://www.propecia.com/finasteride/pro ... /index.jsp

Note that I'm not a salesman and the site propecia gives you more an overview
of how finasteride ~1 mg would work for you.

There's not anymore I can do for you, extrem shedding is hard, very hard.
My experience tells me it's the best to get at least a year on finasteride
and forget about the shedding make photos if necessary.
You can't do anything else, but it's already very good. Forget about all the forums
posts or information about finasteride that are too negative, go on it and forget - it will work great.
