Re: nemoy's story (21 y/old diffuse receder)

Oh man, it's like I'm seeing myself. Your hairloss is IDENTICAL to mine, and I'm 21 too, and I started balding around 16 too. It f*****g sucks. I was considering using finasteride, but I think it's not worth the possible sides. It's strange that finasteride and Rogaine didn't seem to help you much. I think that with that amount of hair, it should at least thicken the remaining hair, and maybe regrow some. If you're taking finasteride since 2008, and your hair is like on the photos now, then I guess it didn't stop your hairloss (I have never taken any treatments and my hair is the same as yours)? Hmm maybe hairloss like that doesn't have anything to do with androgens? May I ask how is your overall health? Have you got any diseases? Do you have any bald family members? And have you been eating many sweets in your life?

Re: nemoy's story (21 y/old diffuse receder)

Hmm, the thing is my father is not bald, and both grandfathers have had great hair. Only person from my family that was balding, was my father's uncle (I've seen it on the photos, and don't know where his baldness has ended). So, my hair genes should be relatively good. But NOPE! I'm 21 and I will probably be full Norwood 6 in a short time. Now I'm balding along with my older brother in the similar manner. I think eating too much sugar and junk food can have some negative effect on your balding process. How old was your father when he's gone bald?

I am even more bald at 20

When did you start finasteride?

I only used generic stuff in tiny dosages for a couple of months and have been dealing with impotence, brain fog, anxiety, penile numbness etc even 2 years since i quit the drug

A few things for you and anyone else to look at before continuing propecia

*le sigh*

finasteride is not a horrible drug. It is not guaranteed to give you cancer, and your dick will not shrivel up and fall off.

3 year 6 months on finasteride for me, no problems.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Management_of_baldness
read this topic specially the part about life style modification
I think that patients with male pattern hair loss should follow a diet and life style like diabetic patient due to the direct relationship between insulin and DHT
just start today to restrict the white poison sugar , restrict fat , drink coke zero , eat fresh fruits and vegetables and diary products, play cardio exercise 30 minutes daily. I think it's more important to spend money in a treadmill or exercise bike than spending it on propecia or minoxidil.
it's not just for your hair it's for a healthy heart , lung, kidney, liver and brain.

Re: nemoy's story (21 y/old diffuse receder)

You don't look bad at all with hair that short. (No homo :gay: ) So here I'll just say that even if you where to go fully horseshoe bald, it wouldn't change your face much.

Advice from me to you; yes, going on minoxidil is a good idea. But why start with 15%? You might get nasty sides (itching, flaking, more shedding perhaps). 5% has been working for me so far (though, I am in a horrible shed now.. dunno if it gets better or not) but I am also taking Dutasteride. Do you have any sides from finasteride at all? If so, why not jump on dutasteride as well? Take notice that you might shed from it to (I did to, but after about 8 months or so, now am at 13 months, still awaiting regrowth) so don't do it if you feel like finasteride is still working. Also, start working out, and change your diet. That stuff you're eating now won't do anything good to you, hairloss or not.

Re: nemoy's story (21 y/old diffuse receder)

I have a similar story. Severe acne when I was 16 and started losing my hair when I was 20. Nature just doesn't want some people to procreate... At least you're not short like me. Dedicate your whole life to trying to change everything you don't like about yourself, and you will succeed. Some people are born perfect, others have to work hard. I cleared my skin up substantially, worked out and gained about 20 lbs, and now I'm trying to get back to an N1. If I were you, I would use minoxidil. It would be pretty easy to apply to a buzzed head.

Nemoy, you really shouldn't be so depressed about hair loss. I think the shaved head suits you quite well. You look like an athlete, a soccer player or something.

I am glad to hear that you do not experience any side effects on finasteride.

Listen; by the sounds of it, i do a lot more with my life than you and i have been dealt a far worse hand. I have the same sort of hair loss but i am more bald and i have been left completely impotent and my brain/ sleep is a mess due to finasteride. Hopefully you can take what i am saying and use it to better yourself. Feel lucky that finasteride is halting your hair loss and really try to make something of yourself.

Do you find sticking to a good diet and exercise routine that hard? i guarantee you that if you throw yourself into it and be consistent for two weeks that you will enjoy it and start feeling much better about yourself.

Start by taking away obvious junk foods. Ditch the coke, and any other fizzy drinks. Ditch all refined and ready made foods. Replace with lean meats, vegetables, fresh fruit, lots of water.

Here are a few links to get you started:

Beating depression and getting over the aspects of your appearance that trouble you is more just eating some vegetables and going for a jog. What sort of interests do you have? is there anything you are passionate about? have you done much traveling?

If you earn a decent wage that gives you some disposable income there are plenty of things you can do to improve your life.
