Hey guys, haven't posted much on here before. Been on Finpecia from Cipla since May and up until about two weeks ago I thought I was doing really well. I got my hair cut quite short and I was really happy with the style, however, the last couple of days I feel as if i've lost ground. Is this common at the 5 month mark to feel as if things have gotten worse? I have read on these forums that things do go up and down, that it's just part of the hair cycle. Does anybody else experience this? Just after some personal experiences. Cheers.

PS: I am going to stay on finasteride, not gonna give up, just wanted some guidance from others' experiences.

Sometimes after a period of growth you may experience teporary shed. Just resume taking the meds and it will recover. I had a couple bouts of shed in my first year. It still happens sometimes but at this point it "after two years" has little cosemetic impact. Hair is much thicker.

Thanks for your responses guys, much appreciated. The weird thing is, although my hair looks and feels worse, I'm not actually noticing a lot of shedding. For example, I hear a lot of people talk about waking up in the morning with their pillow full of hair but I don't get any of that. It just seems as though my hair has gotten thinner and limper and overall is in a bad condition. I need to put a lot of product in it to give it more volume which is annoying. Does this make any sense? That my hair looks worse but no major shedding is noticeable? Could it be that I am shedding but because my hair is so short that I don't notice the stranded hairs?

Yeah, that does make sense. Losing up to 100 hairs each day can be completely normal. You could lose that many hairs and not have male pattern baldness at all. At the same time, you could have no noticeable shedding but still be losing hair. It's not really important how much hair you shed, what matters is how much grows back. Yes, it's also possible that you don't notice because your hair is short.

I guess what I'm saying is that you should focus on the hair on your head more than anything else. Just make sure that you're doing this objectively. Take photos and compare them. Don't just look in the mirror and make a subjective judgement each morning. I can tell you that's an easy way to stress yourself out.
