Wow I can't believe it's been five months already but here it is.

Backround:

26
Diffuse thinner
Dad Bald/Brother Balding

Before Treatment:

Noticed I was thinning a couple years ago. Diffusing in a 1X1 area above the left temple, smaller patchy areas on the scalp, slight crown. I wear my hair in a fade cut, so the thinning was only noticeable under close scrutiny.

Regimen:

In my signature, done religiously. No interruptions, no variations.

5 Months After Treatment:

NO SIDES

Unfortunately, my hair is in the worst state it has ever been at. The patch area above the temple is all but obvious even to the wandering eye. The "patchy" areas have increased in diameter. Hairline and crown still holding up. Around 10-15% loss from baseline.

Because my hair is short, I never notice whether or not I'm shedding, but obviously I'm losing hair. I see it is normal to have shed periods the first 3 months but it seems the responders have gained hair by the 5th month.

I am stuck as to what to think. Every other medication I've taken has been effective for me.

Is it time for me to take additional treatments, should I continue to wait it out, or should I quit?

If I havn't respnded by month 5, what are the rough odds of me having gained by month 12?

I would wait 12 months before you make a change or add minoxidil to the mix, everyone responds different so it could take longer for you to notice results.

I have been on 1 mg propecia for 18 months now it took about 10 months for me to notice results, I have since added minoxidil and spironolactone to get my hair back to where I would like it.

Thanks for the comments, I need more please. I am considering the eucapil route, cause theres a topical I can apply only once a day at night, and it supposedly will stop the shedding immediately.

imusing fluridil...i wudnt say it stops shedding immediatly, but i have been using for just a short period(2 weeks), and have noticed a change, i am shedding far less then i was b4 treatment, i am only using fluridil, so it can be the only thing contributing to reduction in shedding.

minoxidil is a big commitment, but if you continue losing it may be your only option.

Adding a topical anti androgen like Eucapil or spironolactone may help inhibit just enough more DHT to stop you losing further, but I wouldnt bank on any regrowth from it.

Personally I like spironolactone better because it has much more scientific backing than Eucapil and as bryan posted here recently the half life is longer than many people think, which means a once a day application is probably OK with spironolactone too.

You can get spironolactone from Dr. Lees or from Genhair which is cheaper (link in my signature).

Eucapil can be ordered from http://www.vitalhair.com

my main concern with minoxidil is that it would make hairs that would normally grow back dependent on it, thus I would be killing otherwise healthy hair, as it would fall out after I stopped using it. is that true?

I'm going to look into this spironolactone a bt more. thanks
