41, Side Effects From Finnasteride, Transplant?

Hello,
Ive posted in the past about potentially looking at hair restoration via transplant. With that said, after further research, it's looking like Finnasteride would be a post surgery requirement. I had tried Finnasteride low dose last year and had side effects that Im not willing to live with. With that said, at 41, Im seeing my hairline recede a little further each month. Should I completely discount hair transplant if Im unwilling to go on Finnasteride? What options do I really have at this point?
Thank you

For comparison, here is a similar photo when I was in my early 20s. You can see the recession has been gradual. My hope is that it's slow enough that I could afford not going on Finnasteride after a transplant.

What evidence do you have?

Certainly, beyond 10 years you may need to use it, but most hair transplant guys never use drugs post op EVER

That’s encouraging to hear. I had no real evidence other than several board members here stating that a transplant isn’t a good idea if you’re not using finnasteride to keep further hairloss at bay.
