4 Months Progress: Minoxidil/finasteride Success Story

Hi I'm posting this mostly because this forum was a major positive influence on my decision to get back on Minoxidil.

I'm 25 now, at 21 I started balding at the front very similar to my grandpa, and got on only Minoxidil with good results. After about 6 months I got lazy and stopped using, and my front hair became worse than ever from the ages 22-24.

I didn't really care about my appearance for a long time but after a while I had enough of just wearing baseball caps all the time. So I decided to get on Minoxidil 5% and generic Finasteride. That was Middle of March this year, and 4 months later my hairs grown great.

In fact, after about 2 and a half months the hair just began suddenly growing through. It started as like a dark shadow at the front, and then grew rapidly.

Now I have a generic crew cut but looking to grow it out over the next couple months.

The photos tell a better story than I do.

Thanks to the replies. Here's a progress update 5 or 6 months after beginning finasteride and minoxidil. My hair's grown back apart from the temple area, though i am thinking this might just be my natural hairline?

You have sides effects from finasteride?

Not that i noticed

So this is 7 months after minoxidil began, and 6 months after finasteride began

The very front part still seems to be not as thick as the rest, and it also seems to grow considerably slower than the rest. This is despite only putting minoxidil on that front area.

I am not sure what made the great results, but i would guess finasteride.

The last photos at the worst of what it was earlier this year, im really ashamed that i let it get that bad without doing something

Be careful. I've read many of these success threads. People that assume it's all finasteride and then drop minoxidil usually end up losing all of their hair.

Personally would say the results are probably more from the Minoxidil than the Finisteride but both together can work wonders

Hi, here’s my hair after about 10 months, still frequent with minoxidil twice a day, and 1 generic finasteride tablet per day. The front still grows slower than the top, and the back area really seemed to thicken up in the last 6 months

Also I would agree that results may be more due to Minoxidil over Finasteride, although using both at the same time I guess is more insurance of solid growth

I think that the front area will never be quite as thick as the top area, because I let the front area get too bad before i got back on Minoxidil. But i let it get so bad coz I honestly thought it was a lost cause, and just to let it go but then I found this forum’s stories that gave me the urge to try again.

Your hair still seems to be improving which is awesome! Yeah your initial results are most likely from minoxidil, but I bet you will continue to see an improvement in hair quality even after a year because of the time it take to really get results from finasteride. The front may never be the same as it was when you were young, but hey your hair looks 100 times better than it did 10 months ago. Thanks for the update!

Hi everyone, for anyone still interested Quick photo update approximately 1 year on. Still Minoxidil twice a day, still 1 generic Finasteride tablet and i also added Nizoral 2% shampoo now, which i use maybe twice a week.

I also use clay products to style hair as my hair will never be very thick at the front, because i was completely bald before.
