I just wanted to share my story of my recent experience with the Prohair Clinic in Belgium.
I am 27 but have been noticing m hairloss for a few years but escalated badly in the last 1 year specifically in the front hairline zones 1 and 2 and the crown zones 4.
I spent a year researching hair transplants using this and other forums, talking to my hair dresser who had a strip in the UK (looks good). I made contact ith a number of clinics but I decided that i absolutely wanted FUE I dit want a scar and wanted the option to return to work quickly, but also have the option to buzz my hair off if i wanted with no major dramas.
I can across prohair, looked at all the very good video footage that no one else was really offering to the extent they were. I exchanged upwards of 20-30 emails with Bart the owner / manager I believe, who was so so helpful and never at any point pushed for a financial commiment like other places I had contacted. In the end I decided to book (3 month wait again usually a good sign) and began the nervous wait.
The Transplant Day
I flew to Antwerp from London airport which was very quick the night before. On the day I got a taxi to the clinic met Bart who tool some pictures talked me through everything. and obviously looked at my donour to confirm my density was good.
I then met the FUE team. Sabine is the elad FUE and she was brilliant, my head was shaved and sabine drew the hair line and did some diagrams as to where the hairs would be placed. I was very very nervous but Bart came through with me to begin with and they were so good. believe it or not i fell asleep during the extractions! No pain at all. I then had some lunch in my private room.
After lunch we dd the implanting and I watched a film! was very relaxd really and Sabine and the team were great to me.
Back to the hotel and then teh same again the following day to finsih. 2 full days were very tiring but the placement and extractins were very very neat and I felt at all times relaxed that the full team were focussed on me, Extrenely professional. Bart even gave me a lift back to my hotel.
The flight home was ok head uncovered as asked by Bart but I just confidently walked through the airport drinking my coffee! ha ha certainly had a few funny looks but I felt fine really.
The Recovery
I booked 2 weeks from work. I had some selling in the face but that was gone by say day 8 no problem. Hair washed at day 7 and all the scabs came off. By day 10 my hair looked really good! like a good buzz with a gretahairline. some redness was visible but powder foundation made that invisible.
I returned home and went on a noght out 2 weeks after surgery no one noticed apart from my buzz cut and people said how great it looked even! I havent told anybody apart from my parents who I stayed with during recovery. I say recovery I was fine it was hiding!
1 Month On
Now my hair is shed so am in the doldrums stage. I have redness in the implant area as expected but am covering with foundation ok, again people still havent noticed. to counter the bald front I have buzzed to 3mm even 2mm people couldnt see scarring so less than a grade 1.
I do have pics but not sure how to post. so please any help would be good.
I look forwrad to my growth now and if successful will retutn form my crown in a year as now have absolte confidence in the prohair clinic. Obviously the growth will tell.
I would like to thank bart and sabine and all the team for making me so welcome and comfortable. The teams ability is increddible really was an eye oponer what can be done.
Appologies for the length but I know I benefitted from reading real stories.
