hi just joined this board and had a few questions.

i'm at the 3 month state of propecia and i'm starting to wonder what the outcome will be. i know everyone says stick through it for a year at least etc etc.

when i started i as slightly thinning. i shed for 3-4 weeks and my shedding face just ended a couple of days ago.

1. my question is does this shedding indicate i'm a good responder or is it universal outcome?

at this stage, the part of my hair can be seen and scalp is visible and a bald spot on the crown also. this was all propecia induced. i use nizoral also.

2. will it grow back, since the shed hairs (which were all long and black) were just kicked into telogen phase? is this the point where you wait for the hairs to come out of dormancy and into growth? or is what i lost something not to be regained and what is retained this point of stability will be protected.

3. what are the next few months supposed to look like?

my hair is at its worst right now....more scalp showing than ever (previoulsy none really, just some thinning)....

basicallly i want to go back to where i started. what shoudl i expect on a timeline from months 3 through the rest of the year ?

thanks in advance, any advice would be appreciated...

man ive been on propecia for a year and 3 months. around the fourth month hell broke loose, my temple points thinned the f*** out, and i thought i was gonna go bald within a month (serious), so i know what ur going through now, sheds are hard. anyway shortly after i buzzed my hair and its a year later and i cant even tell where i was shedding, my point is, dont think about it so much, but watch out for the fourth month yeah.

:dunno: A lot of different things can happen.

Seeing as though you shed you will most likely see an increase in thickness I guess.... but really I just don't know. I wish you the best and I hope someone here can answer your question.

Good luck though

so you're saying in over a year your hair looked like it did pre-shed? was it better than before you started?

well now my hair is very thick and dark. to be honest i started propecia when i was a norwood 1.5, but ive had alot of times when my hairs become so thin during a shed. right now my hair is still pretty much a norwood 1.5 apart from my left hairline which has taken a beating, not sure if its a shed or not, but yeah safe to say, im as depressed as i was last year, lol, and im hoping it gets better. my crown is very thick now though, and my right hairline is exactly the same. if theres anything ive learnt from the looking around its that u should NEVER get of the drug, most people keep the same hair they started with provided they never stop it for years.

i don't have that much to complain about but for me having had great hair i decided to start this just at cusp of some thinning. my worry is did i accelerate myself needlessly say 5 yrs in starting to fight a battle that could have been postponed.....

its just a shock to see hair shedding so much even though i went in aware...

i'm hoping that in my effort to cut this thing off at the very beginning was better than not thinking about it for half a decade and then bam....or not bam (who knows)...

guess that's the kind of cost benefit analysis that each person has to make.....

dying slow vs execution.....
