Hey guys,

Natrually my hairline has always (atleast as far as I can remember) been sloped. Over the last year or so it seems as if it is receding a bit more, although not major.

I have been using Minoxdil 5% foam twice a day for about 6 months now. It grows back little hairs, and although its not amazing, it does something.

I recently went to the dermatolgist and asked him if he thinks Im losing my hair. He barely looked, but pretty much said yes, and wrote me a script for propecia. After seeing horror story after horror story I don't know if I should continue taking it. Today will be day 3, but it seems for every post I see with no negative side effects, there are 5 more horrible experience posts. My derm said the side effects most likely won't happen, and compared the placebo group with the group with the side effects. So, he pretty much said I am fine and not to worry.

Another derm I went to said i'll be fine, but maybe loose 10% of my sexual drive, which sucks.

My question is, should I continue the finasteride and give it a shot along with the minodixl? Or, is it not worth it? I mean I also read about how it could give potential problems if you have kids,. I don't want to get my girlfriend pregnant and my baby have birth defects vs going bald. Do I try it out and hope for the best? Or do I say its not worth the risk and just keep using monoxdil twice a day? (unless there is something else I could do)

If you have these many doubts although your own specialist doctor prescribed Propecia for you, it is very likely this is not the right cure for you.
Why don' t you try RU58841 instead? It is a topical that is considered a "replacement" of the pill. But is is much more expensive.

I mean Roberto, I have no idea this is why I am asking.. Are there a lot of people who experience no side effects whatsoever on finasteride?

IDK where you read this, the instructions have been clear from the start, DONT let your pregnant wife touch these pills, thats it. Ive never heard of birth defects happening from finasteride? in fact, ive read a couple stories of men saying they produced a completely healthy kid while on finasteride. If this is a worry, just stop the drug 3-6 months bfore you're ready to conceive. On top of that, the pills have a special coating in order to not penetrate skin instantly, so keep the pills in a place where your wife doesnt touch and you remove any chance of any type of birth defect. Me personally though, if i do have a kid, i will certainly get off the drug till its completely out of my body, then try.

Also, anyone who is experiencing hair loss and has it effect their psychological state should at least give it a try, as much as this drug has ruined a tiny majority of its users lives, its also brought a HUGE majority of peoples lives back to normal.

Try it, keep going, if you feel like you can keep taking it, then do so, if you feel as if you're damaging yourself just stop dude.

Im approaching 7 months and im perfectly fine, still fap daily and still have no problems during sex at all, the only thing that took a hit is my refractory period for round 2.

Hey man, im not convinced propecia is effective if at all at the front. Some people even experience worse hair loss while on the drug.( check out the pics i just posted on my thread and you'll see what i mean :( ) However the moderator makes a good point RU would probably be your best bet. Shame that its hard to source though. I'd personally try in some S5 plus cream too if you've got the money for it, cant hurt can it? And there is at least some evidence to prove it may help. Whatever you choose good luck man! We're all fighting this defect together! :)

propecia is very effective at maintaining, and halting the progression of hair loss.
