27 years old, what can I do?

I am 27 and live in Chicago. I have uploaded(attached) some images. My problem is frontal and upper thinning and receding. I am willing to spend up to 15k to solve this problem for good, so money is not so much a problem, but I also don't want to throw away more than 20k on something that doesn't work.

My pre-emptive plan, without doing much thought and research, is as follows:

1) Try Hair Club Extreme Therapy for a few months (6 months - 1 year)
2) If that doesn't work, try Hair Club transplant surgery

What are people's opinions for 1) and 2)? How effective are they? Are there any more effective alternatives for either of them?

So far, I have tried Pura Dor shampoo, and Ketoconazole for dandruff/mild psoriasis, but they haven't done much for preventing my hair loss, nor regrowth.

I'd like to know what's the consensus on 1) and 2), and if these do not enjoy good reputation, what are the best alternatives?

Try Minoxidil and Finasteride before you waste 20k might regrow enough to where you are satisfied with your hair.

Finasterie sounds risky, given the possible side effects.
I have mild psoriasis, and use Ketoconazole for it. I've heard that minoxidil/rogaine may affect psoriasis/dandruff negatively. Is this true? Also, should I go for 2% or 5%?

People get in this way of thinking that the side effects won't go away even if stop taking the med. Try Finasteride for 3 months and if you get sides drop the med. Same goes with the Minoxidil. I would try the foam over the liquid solution being that the liquid is a little more harsh on the skin. Also 5%.

Do I need to consult a doctor before starting Finasteride? Is 27 the right age for it? Where would I normally get it, ebay/amazon?

Yes I would see a doctor and have some blood work done to see if something else is the cause. Thyroid problems can cause hair loss too so let these things choked before you start however i would assume in almost 99% of the cases male pattern baldness is the problem.

to the finasteride scare: give it at least a try if it doesn't work for you just stop it. Give your body some time to adjust to the drug, don't stop after 2 pills because you think you can't get your dick up anymore ;)

I have had general exams and bloodwork done fairly recently, and multiple doctos have told me it is male pattern baldness.
Do I need doctor's perscription for finasteride? How does it compare to propecia? I have the impression it is the exact same thing. However, are certain brands more effective? What seems to be the consensus on here?

I hope you have a plan B.

Yes, I am hoping to hear some thoughts for a plan B on here. I've got no idea at the moment, so no plan B :(

trb88,

Your best option is to start taking Finasteride so your hair loss won't continue to progress. Using Minoxidil isn't a must to keep hair from falling out, though is strongly recommended to use especially with your case where it looks like you have potential for frontal hair regrowth looking at the pics you shared. Using a Ketoconaole shampoo is a nice minor treatment which helps to keep your scalp clean, healthy, and fights hair loss related inflammation, and is usually recommended to use 2-3 a week.

Usually the best chances of getting a prescription for Finasteride is to make an appointment to see a hair transplant surgeon, they are the specialists who are knowledgeable about hair loss. You shouldn't have trouble getting the prescription for the medication.
