Im 27 male and started to really notice thinning in my corners about two years ago, mainly my left corner is noticeably thinner than the right, i guess i have been thinning around 22 but just barely noticed it the last couple years.

shedding for me is normal, i rememeber when i was 13yrs old, i ran my hand through my hair and counted 50 hairs on my hand! So i figured thats normal for me. I shed about 150 hairs daily ever since. It looks drastic in my shower drain but i still have head full of hair.

my moms side has the balding gene, she lost alot of hair and her brothers are bald(uncles)

my dad has full head of black hair that is very thick and minor recession. I still consider him norwood 1.5 and he is 67 years old. So lucky. He tells me i have his hair genes but im starting to think not.

i have 3 older brothers. Oldest was balding from crown and receded alot, still has hair but noticable balding.

second oldest has had a aggressive receding temples and hairline, a very high widows peak, still has hair but just recently noticed he has his whole top thinning out.

3rd oldest always had a very high or big forehead and receded just a bit, but when he was 25, his whole top was thinning and can tell was going bald. He always had thin hair while i had very thick hair.

i was on accutane for 5months and just recently got off 3months ago, sadly i noticed my receding hairline before accutane but it seems accutane accelerated my receding hairline. I also stress a whole lot. One time i developed a small smooth bald patch in middle of my beard! The small bald patch was there for 3 months and completly regrew to normal after 3 months.

im freakin out a bit, dont wanna bald just yet lol, i have my hair super long so it covers the receding hairline pretty good but when i slick it back and tie it up, u can tell i receded about an inch.

idk what i should do, medication? Too early to buff up my hairline with a transplant?

what am i on the norwood scale?

you should definately get on finasteride if you don't want it to get worse, you have good desnity all over but your temples are definitely going and it won't stop without finasteride.

Is there anyway you could post a photo of your hair wet/dry and combed forward? These pictures are great for the hairline but you could be diffuse thinning and there is no way of telling with this hair style and if two of your brothers are diffuse thinning there is a good chance you might be.
I would say you are in between a NW1 and a NW2.
You should hop on the big three being finasteride/minoxidil/keto shampoo. finasteride and 2% keto are prescriptions. I would recommend kirkland brand liquid minoxidil because it is cheap and just as effective as rogaine.

i will upload more pictures when i get a chance. I thought about the diffuse thinning, my hair thinned all over my scalp including donor area. I blame all that on accutane. My hair is brittle, i could easily rip one in half. In some of the pictures my hair is wet/dry or damp.

its been 3 months since i been off accutane, hair still very thin.

so idk if accutane is the root cause of all the thinning. I guess time will tell.

i bought a generic ket 2% on ebay shipped from china or hong kong, i forgot but idk if its the real deal, i have been using it and it makes my hair more brittle so i stopped using it.

sorry of any typos, im typing from an android

No offense but I don't know how some of you gauge hairloss. He's clearly beyond NW2 with temples that high. I would say maybe even a NW2.5.

As for the OP, I don't what you mean by "normal". There is no normal when it comes to hairloss. Sounds like your case is fairly mild if you've only recessed to a NW2-2.5 in the years you've been losing. You should be a good responder to finasteride.

Heading towards a NW3 vertex

That straight line that zigzag for the fore lock to the crown is generally the first signs of vertex and crown NW3.

First off, cut your hair and stick with a forward combed style. It's far better for concealing minor hair loss in the corners. If you sought treatment now, you'd probably be in good shape because you really aren't bad yet. Finasteride could probably help propel you through your 30s with around the same amount of hair you have now. I would really advise a haircut though, sir.

I planned to grow my hair long for a bit, if i do go bald, then i can atleast say i enjoyed my hair while i had it all. So im planning to keep it long for couple years because its the style i choose for now unless of course i recede way too much then it will be time to cut it. I beleive the accutane made my hair thin out very much and overall my hair looks like its thinning, maybe it is? But i know for a fact accutane made my hair thin all over my head not just the top. I noticed the corners thinning before accutane though so i know the meds wasn't the cause for that.

But i did have alopecia areata on my beard from heavy stress. Maybe im experiencing Telogen Effluvium? Will a dermatologist confirm if im going bald at this stage?

Hope this helps. Propecia has shown the most benefit in clinical studies + real world practice in the crown area. Its benefits are less pronounced as it nears the hairline. This has been my experience. Hair loss stopped within 6 months, significant re-growth at 9 months. Re-growth continued thru 18 months, then has pretty much slowed down / stopped. I have 3 close friends who also take it, all have had excellent. results. For all who take Propecia, wait a full year before making a decision to discontinue. Easy, one tab in the morning and that's it.
