Hello everyone.

I'm 26 old. I've had diffuse shedding since the beginning of the year. My GP told me it was Telogen Effluvium from stress and anti-depressants + beta blockers I took between October 2017 and January 2018 (I also have tinea versicolor from stress). I can see my scalp from front to back when I've had a shower. When I shampoo and condition my hands are full of hairs. My eyebrows and eyelashes are also shedding heavily. I'm now worried though because recently it is becoming more noticeable around my hairline when my hair is dry (IMG_2977). I also have sparse regrowth which seems to be the same thickness as the rest of my hair in those areas. It looks like I have the same hairline in photos from 2016 though (IMG_1384). That year I was on a crash diet of 1200 calorie diet with no meat or dairy and mountain biking for 20 miles a day. I've had a widow's peak for years. Crown/cowlick when my hair is dry (IMG_2978).

Anybody have any opinions? Thank you for reading.

I don't see anything. Have you started anything like minoxidil for starters?

My hairline doesn't seem to be receding?

No. My GP told me it was Telogen Effluvium and it would resolve itself so I haven't looked into starting any treatments. I've taken Biotin drops for a few years but that's it.

I would just keep an eye on it.....it could possibly be diffuse thinning which is usually how it starts....alot of ppl confuse it for telogen effovium. But imo that doesn't look like Telogen Effluvium.

Yeah I mean when hair is wet it usually always looks thin....you could get some nizoral and possibly try and get on finasteride.... This would likely maintain what you have and possibly regrow some ..... How's your family history of hairloss?

I will look into those treatments. Thanks. I don't think I have any family history of hairloss. All of my family who are over 50 that I can think of have thick black, brown or grey hair. My dad and granddad have mature hairlines.

Well if your family history is goodbtheb I'd just my monitor it... You could just be maturing a bit esp at your age it's verly likely. Wish you the best of luck and keep us posted.

Thanks. I will. Bump. Any other opinions? I think I am going to ask my GP to refer me to a dermatologist.

Anytime the front/temples are receding back it is almost always male pattern baldness. I do not see anything of particular concern right now but if you are extremely concerned about the top you can apply Minoxidil for a few months and reevaluate.

Thanks. I'll pickup some Minoxidil. I'm not sure if my temples are receding and the regrowth seems to be the same thickness and pigmentation. Crown/cowlick with camera flash.

You mention anti-depressants. SSRIs I’m pretty sure hairloss is a potential side effect... same with beta blockers

I really don't see any thinning, you have glorious hair man. I'd go to your doctor and get your vit D levels checked and maybe check out your t3 and t4 levels for your thyroid and any other minerals& vitimans that could be lacking. But I'm sure you already had those checked out. Its pretty common for people to have low magnesium, B12 and D in America. I actually had extremely low vitiman D which in turn gave by temporary hypothyroidism. I even went out in the sun, but if you are further north(I'm in the midwest) its hard to get enough at times. I mention B12 because it is directly responsible for new hair cells and hair growth and Vit D also plays a role in it(and its also a hormone).
