.25mg - good results but could be better?

I know this topic has been covered to death, but wanted to share my experience and get more feedback before I move forward.

I've been on .25 mg generic Finpecia for almost 8 years. I've been able to thicken and maintain at around a Norwood 2 (though I'm not sure). If I comb my hair a certain way you can see some thinning at the crown but most people don't notice.

I also use Nizoral shampoo 1% a few times/week which definitely seems to help keep my scalp feeling clean. After about 6 months of stopping nizoral my scalp started to feel "waxy", so I started again. I added biotin supplements daily several months ago, but can't tell if this is working for my hair.

Now for the breakdown:
-1mg gave me very noticeable sides after week 3 so I freaked out and stopped. Went to .25 mg which had much milder sides around week 3 that went away quickly.
-Seems like the shedding never stopped. When I shampoo my hair, apply product or anything that requires me to run my hands through my hair, I get about 30-50 hairs or more that I can count. The difference I've noticed though, is that at the end of each hair is a white "bulb" - something that was non-existent prior to finasteride. The ends of the hairs were black and looked "dead".
-I want the try increasing to 0.5 (half a pill) and see if I can stop the shedding and get even better results (mainly regrowth), as this is closer to the optimal dosage it seems.
-I'll start taking DIM (an estrogen regulator) that I've tried before, and seemed to have a positive effect on my mood at least. This should help mitigate any sides, and is good for you anyway.
-Tried Rogaine foam 5% twice over several months with no noticeable effect on my hair.

My main question is this: has anyone increased their dose from .25 to something higher, and if so, what was your experience? Do you think it's worth it for me to do so? I know everyone's different, so no way to say how I'll react to it. Would be nice to get better results but I don't want to INCREASE shedding or sides for no added benefit. Thanks.

Everybody reacts differently to medication so its useless to ask and compare.

Although you are on a low dose, its better than nothing.

You could try .5mg and go from there.

The sides were nut ache (left testicle only), knee pain, water semen and decreased libido. I also had a dull ache in my prostate region sometimes. These sides were very pronounced on 1mg and very subtle on .25, so there's no doubt that they weren't just psychological as some claim. Really confused by that theory.

I didn't stay on 1mg long enough to outlast the sides, so I stopped completely for about 2 weeks. All sides disappeared after a few days and then I went on .25 mg every day. As I said, around the 3 week mark I noticed about a week of sides that were pretty mild, and went away.

Since everyone's different I know it's hard to say what the outcome will be, but just seeing if anyone went from .25 to .5, and what their experience was.
