Hey everyone,

I'm new to the forum and I m looking for some opinions on my apparent hair loss. This might be a long post so bear with me. I'll try my best to make it concise.

History: Year 2015, March. This is when I started noticing rapid hair loss on the sides of my forehead. No one in my family is bald so I'm assuming this is due to hormonal changes. I do suffer from psoriasis (redness, itching and dandruff) and dermatitis.

Treatment: I have been to few dermatologists and one of them told me the hair loss is due to dandruff and possibly lack of diet. The other one said it's male pattern baldness. I was recommended Nizoral and Steiprox shampoo by different doctors. Also multi-vitamin tablets.
As for medications - they recommended Minoxidil. They were against Propecia due to side effects such as ED etc and I have heard some horror stories about it. So, I didn't bother.

Causes
: I'm curious what caused this rapid hair loss.
1. Concerta 54 Mg, Ritalin and Modafinil - I took this for 6 months for studies then stopped.
2. Low T levels or Thyroid problems - I'm thinking to get a blood test for both. I do suffer from fatigue. Do you guys think testosterone supplements can help with the cure?
3. Smoking and Alcohol - Obvious, but don't think they are causing this.
4. Dandruff - Do guys think it's the dandruff?

Things I have tried: I tried Minoxidil last year for nearly four months and noticed regrowth on bald patches on the sides which I thought was amazing, but then I got fed up and stopped.
Now, I'm reconsidering but if anyone has other recommendations I'll be really happy.

Current status: As of this moment, I'm using Steiprox shampoo.
GNC Men's Ultra Nourish Hair Dietary supplement. I haven't noticed any improvement, but then again it's only been a month since I started.

Onion juice - I have heard it helps with hair regrowth, but I haven't tried it yet.

Other options include surgery which I'm never going to consider even if it was free.
- PRP aka Platelet Rich Plasma - Has anyone tried this, what do you guys think?
- Advanced Laser Therapy - any idea about this?

So, knowing all this what would you guys recommend. Any help would be appreciated. Pics uploaded.
Thank you.

Future Good News: I'm not sure if you guys know, but there is a drug called Ruxolitinib. It's been known to permanently cure Alopecia. Apparently they tested it on three people who were almost completely bald. Within 4-5 months, they had regrown a full head of hair. Unfortunately, it is still in clinical stage and they are heavily testing it for side-effects before it's available. So, we are looking at 3-5 years. Nonetheless, it's still a good news.

cause: male pattern baldness

solution: finasteride

It is really that simple. Also never trust too much in upcoming treatments. There has been too many up and coming solutions to hairloss that ultimately fall flat. Your best bet is blocking the conversion of test to DHT with finasteride.

Theses dermatologists are so idiots.
Unfortunately you have genetic hairloss and you need finasteride.

Thanks for the reply everyone.

Ok, 2 questions:

1. Minoxidil liquid/foam or spray? Is there a difference in effectiveness?

2. Can you get away by applying only once a day?

I don't think I ll use Propecia due to extreme side effects. Cheers.
