So, I'm a 25 year old male who's been losing hair for a number of years now. I should have treated it earlier, but it didn't happen due to various reasons. That said, I'm really interested and ready for treatment options now.
I am losing a lot of hair any time I shower or just put water through my hair to brush it. I'm almost reluctant or scared to wash my hair because I don't want to lose more.
My hair is getting very thin, though I still believe I may be a good candidate for maintenance/regrowth. I am probably (unfortunately) working towards a 6 on the Norwood scale, though I am not yet completely bald in any areas (but getting close, fast!).
I have tried Costco's Minoxidil for a short time...not long enough, but I found it difficult to use because I have such a large area to cover. The liquid also seems to get absorbed by my hair, and my hair becomes brittle/stiff feeling and has a slight white tint to it. At that point, it's pretty hard to style, and I'm afraid to use any of the gel, spray or even water that I normally would use, because I don't really know if they will affect treatment.
I would really like some advice on what to do from this point...what will give me the best chance of regrowth? Money may be an issue, but not if the benefits significantly outweigh the cost compared to competing products.
There's a lot of information on these forums, and I hope to learn from each post...but I'm a bit overwhelmed right now, I don't know what to use or where to start...I'd just like some hair back, or to at least keep it.
I hate to make an assumption since I'm not a doctor and have never been suggested this by a doctor, but I do think my hormones play a large roll in my hair loss. I have very oily skin and still struggle with acne. I have even had a few cysts removed due to overproduction of sebum. My libido is over the top, and to be honest, is just as bad if not worse than when I was a teenager. I understand that some treatments may affect this, but to be honest, I think a little loss of libido might be nice in my case...it's just a little too overboard. I can't see myself ever having the extreme side effects that some have had, but if so, I know I can always discontinue use.
Thanks in advance for your help, and I hope to show you guys positive before and after photographs with the treatments you recommend and help me discover!
