Hi,

25, been on finasteride for 4 years with good results. I've posted here a few times and recently was told my hair looks totally fine and not to worry about anything (yay!)...However, I've recently gotten a different haircut and started noticing what my wet hair in bright light looks like. And it's terrifying. My mom actually told me I have really fine hair like her and that's what hers would look like wet too. Hairdresser also said I have fine hair but a lot of it, and it's also crazy soft. In old pics (high school) it's clear that this is true but clearly was not showing scalp like this. Please take a look at the pictures attached because this is driving me nuts. This looks like serious diffuse thinning to me (first pic especially). But when it's dry it's okay but still pretty thin.

- Am I freaking out over something minor?
- Is my hair loss accelerating or is it a haircut?
- My temples seem to have stopped receding and are pretty good...so do I have normal wet hair for someone with super-fine hair or bad diffuse thinning?

-These 3 are from today with wet hair (and one slightly drier/combed) in bright light and the main issue:

- These 2 are comparisons from the side and top from 16 months ago to today (different haircut). My temples actually look better today somehow:

These are from a few weeks ago prior to haircut with dry hair and one up-close wet hair:

These 2 are from 8 months ago (12/16) with longer wet hair:

- I noticed that my wet hair looks thicker in older pictures, although I don't have any direct sunlight from above
- The only thing I've changed is my haircut and I stopped some Pura d'Or shampoo and started using Tricomin shampoo + spray about a month ago. I am wondering if a) Tricomin is working well and I am in some sort of shed, although I don't think it's supposed to be that strong/really do anything or b) It's having a negative effect on my hair
- I've also spent way more time in the sun this summer, possibly damaging my hair?
- It seems my hair is "clumping" a lot more when wet
- Rogaine seems to be the obvious answer I guess...

Did finasteride regrow a lot of your hair or it just did a good job maintaining?

Regrew a pretty solid amount then maintained. My hair feels as thick as it's been but the wet shots are scaring the cr*p out of me

Honestly your hair looks the same from the pictures from last year; your hair is just laying a little differently. If anything your hairline looks a little better now. As long as you aren't noticing an increase in hair fall I wouldn't worry about it.

Ye those first 2 wet shots look scary....looks thick dry though. See why you're worrying tho, may just be some diffuse thinning occurring that you've had before. May just be the lighting and how your hair clumps together like that when wet...Wouldn't worry too much. Not really useful as comparison photos if different lighting.

If it makes you feel better, I have extremely fine hair, baby soft my whole life. My hair always looked like yours when wet, yours might look a tad thicker at your age then mine. I'm 40 now and still have most of my hair, still looks like sh*t when wet under bright light. Dry it looks good. Never took any meds for hairloss.

Why are you here if you're not losing hair..?

I am slowly. Mainly hairline and some density from when I was 20. I said still have most of my hair, not all. Just because I'm not balding at 20 doesn't mean I stop caring at 40. My hair density has always sucked, have kept short most of my life.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm considering getting a short semi-buzz cut later in the year and starting rogaine. Just seems like such a big commitment when it's just borderline. Like I think my scalp is maybe slightly visible through the back in direct sunlight (dry) and my part line looks a little funky but that could also be fine hair.

@Norwoodcemetary what would your recommendation be?

Rogaine would be a pain in the *** with your type of hair loss. You probably have some diffuse thinning, but your hair still looks great dry. Not sure if you're even losing more hair, may have just always looked that way man.

I think a couple people in the thread don't realize your hairs have improved from
The first set of pics you posted, and that those are from 16 months ago. The ones lower down look pretty solid, I wouldn't be worried if I were you. Your hair looks so tucking thick even when wet, they clump into huge chunks. My hair clumps into little fkn strings when wet, looks super disgusting lmao, enjoy what you got man, no one would think anything of your hair.

Why rogaine would be a pain in the *** for him? Do you are saying that rogaine doesn't work for diffuse hairloss?

No not saying that, just saying it is difficult to apply for diffuse hair loss when you still have a very good head of hair. Most of it will just get in your hair. You will end up using way more than the recommended dosage to get that 1ml or whatever on your scalp. Will be expensive as sh*t, and probs not worth it, given that his hair looks great already.
