Hello hairloss community. My name is Jay and I seek your help.

Background:
I'm 24 college student from Maryland. I always had high hair line but ever since I was 20 years old, my hair line has been slowly receding. I did some studying and I fit in the category of NW2. My friends say you are loosing hair because I am too stressed out, smoke heavily, eat too much meat..... All that is true, but I think its more genetic based since my older brother and dad all have higher hair line.

I also never took special care of my hair. I been using pentine shampoo with no conditional for long as I remember and used blow dry every single day.

Today I am gana take action:
I'm going to be vegitarian, quit smoking, drink green tea everyday from now on.
I would also like to visit a dermatologist to get thier expert advice on some of the medical treatments avaiable. If anyone knows any expertised doctor for hair loss in MD/VA area please leave a note.

What else can I do to prevent from receding hair line and regrowing my frontal hair. Please leave me some detail suggestions on what to take and do.

Also, what shampoo should I start using to take better care of my hair. A friend of mine suggested using nioxin. If yall think this is a good start please let me know.

Thank you for reading and for all your help.

-Jay

First of all, if you have the ability to post pictures of your hair (not your face) from the top, front, and the sides, you'll help everyone out as it'll give us a good direction to take your treatment. The big three of finasteride, rogaine, and ketoconazole are always recommended and are usually quite effective when it comes to at least maintaining hair.

The health choices that you're making will not only benefit your hair, but your entire well-being. When you quit smoking, beware the anxiety that you might feel as you'll likely end up with it accumulating with the stress you seem to be experiencing, your hair loss, and the sudden decrease in nicotine intake. Do your best to avoid lighting another cigarette at all costs. Once you get through that initial brick wall that you'll likely encounter, the trick is to learn to just relax. Music, movies, or personal time are all recommended. Do not keep cigarettes where you live and tell your friends to not give you any if you ask.

Being responsible for your health is a good idea. A lot of people could learn a lesson from your new found ideals.

None of ths is the cause of your hairloss. Its genetic, keep researching on here and look into the big 3.

By not eating meat and quitting smoking, There is a 99% chance that you will regrow all your hair. Good Luck.

Don't overdue it with the green tea, you could end up with hair in places you would never imagine.

All joking aside, quiting meats has it's benefits but remember you do need proteins and iron to stay healthy. many vegetarians don't get enough protein or iron and feel sluggish. Drink milk and eat spinish leafs and you'll be great.

Start looking into other treatments besides a diet change.

You two realize that there is a difference between informing someone that, while vegetarianism may be a healthy option, it is not likely to change the rate of his hairloss, and being a self-righteous, superior-acting douchebag about it, right?

It was his first post for f***'s sake, he's probably nervous about his hairloss and might be nervous about asking for help. Why don't you stop being assholes and try helping someone for a change.

i agree, thats a dickhead thing to do. but i suppose we all eventually get sick of answering the same questions over and over and over and over again. i mean it doesn't take much research on this forum to discover "the big 3". basic stuff, tbh.

Hey guys, thanks for all your replys.

Many people mentioned the big 3 here. I guess they refer to the names that first guy mentioned finasteride, rogaine, and ketoconazole.

I'll post some pictures of my condition later tonight when I get my hands on a camera.

Thanks.
