23 Year Old male. Worried about right temple/corner of head

Hey all

Sorry for yet another thread, I can only imagine you guys get loads of these.

Anyhow I am a 23 year old male. I've never had any worries or problems about my hair before, however since the age of about 19/20, I got a sudden extreme bout of Eczema, which spread really
badly over my face, body and even scalp (seborrheic Eczema) - Therefore I had patches of hair missing all over my head due to where I scratched, however my doctors advised me that the hair would regrow, and thankfully it pretty much did there. I've now been eczema free for about 4 to 5 months and my small hair patches are filling up (I think the Doctor said I had alopecia).

I also used shedloads of Nizoral for my eczema, which I think people on here use anyway, but I haven't used any in about 6 months.

Anyhow, as you can see from the pics, I feel as though now my RIGHT temple/side is slightly more recessed then my left one. I do remember having eczema on my temples, quite badly actually, so I
wanted to ask is this due to the eczema or am I going bald?

I've also attached some pics from 4 years ago (I don't have many pics in-between due to the eczema, as I didn't really take a lot of pics), which hopefully show my hairline. I've always had a bit
of a weird head shape/hairline, my friends have even said this to me, however do you think my right temple hairline has always been the way it is? I've never really checked before as I was more worried
about eczema, however from some closeup pics I've found, it seems to me that my right temple of my head does actually have a slightly more receding/anglular hairline then my left, which is straighter, as you can see from the extra pics.

Also, as I said I have used Nizoral quite a lot, should I go back on it? It made my hair feel dry so I kinda stopped using it. I've also used Apple cider vinegar in my hair to get rid of the eczema (which
thankfully it has) however, can this cause balding issues?

I'm worried to go into see a private specialist as I'm worried they'll say I have big balding problems or something, in an effort to make money off me as I'm a gullible student, therefore I wanted
to get some other opinions first. Is it possible to fill in the right side of my temple with some of the creams and shampoos I've briefly read about on here? Should I continue to use Nizoral and/or Apple cider vinegar? If so, only on the right side?

Lastly, how can I take measurements of my hair? As in if I take measurements of my hairline now, and then re-measure 6 months later, how can I tell if my temples are getting bigger/hairline receding, accurately?

If you need more pics I can take some more.

Thanks!

No harm in using nizoral once or twice a week like the majority here use. Especially if it helps with your eczema.
Hard to tell to be honest because your 5 year's ago picture looks worse then your current ones, but the angles are different. Take one similar to your 5 year / more then 5 year pictures with your hair pushed back so we can see your hairline clearly.

Well if they try to get you on other stuff aside from finasteride/minoxidil/nizoral or try to sell you some type of lazer helmet then ya they are probably trying to rip you off and you should walk out.

Take the same pictures with the same angles and the same hair length.

Firstly welcome to the board fellow Londoner. Don't be sorry and be afraid to ask questions...that's why we're here.

I also had eczema/dermatitis on my face around 15/16. Always had skin issues - dry/flaky skin and irritable but it's mostly calmed down now. Your right temple does seem a little more recessed compared to your left (I have the same), but nothing alarming. But overall your hairline is OK I'd say, I don't see any noticeable difference from 4 years ago, very negligible.

P.S. Nice Oyster card ;)

Thanks for your reply. I'll use the Nizoral weekly then. Should I use it all over my scalp, or only on my right side (where the issue is?)

And also, what about the Apple Cider Vinegar? It cured my scalp eczema but is it ok long term for hair or is it too acidic or something?

I see what you mean about my older photos, maybe my hairline has always been like this then? What do you think?

Will take some updated photos in a few mins.

Haha, I knew someone would notice! Free travel until 16, now it's one of my biggest expenses!

Eczema is the worst thing ever. Hit me at the worst time in my life, just finished year 1 of Uni and Bam!
Look into Probiotics and Apple cider vinegar, I have now got rid of my eczema for the past 6 months, just trying to get my skin back without wrinkles, dryness and pigmentation, however it's been getting there
and that's why I've noticed my hair now I think.

I agree, but I think I may have always had this issue. I'll try and find more pics and post them up.

Here is are some pics with my hair pushed back. Selfies using my iPhone so apologies for the quality.

Please let me know what you all think.

Tbh man, it looks fine, doesn't look like it has recessed compared to 4 years ago at all. Yeah Eczema is sh*t, thankfully didn't effect me at my time at uni. I was already a miserable tw*t at uni (regrettably) and I wasn't even losing hair then, would have been hell for me.

Keep us updated bro. Skin and hair often go hand-in-hand. Nothing worse than having skin problems AND losing hair at the same time.

Thanks man. Do you think I should still go in and see one of these hair specialists in London like Belgravia? Or any others?
Just don't want to get conned!

Yeah thankfully probiotics helped. NHS just pumped me full of steroids, but hey maybe the Nizoral usage of 4 years has helped haha.

You've definitely recessed, you just have a very strong hairline, so it's not as noticeable to most eyes.
When I say 'strong hairline' what I'm implying is your hairline is quite far forward, so minor recession isn't noticeable. Most people who experience loss of temple points or any recession for that matter become a 5 head and it becomes instantly noticeable of their recession.

Any history of male pattern baldness in your family?

If so any early male pattern baldness?

I wouldn't take any action yet. There is such thing as a 'mature hairline' where you can experience minor recession in your 20's and it not progress any further, I didn't believe it was actually possible; but it turned out my brother has a mature hairline.

Thanks. I thought my hairline was too far backwards, as in from my eyebrows, as I always felt I had a large forehead.

Do you have any pictures of a 5 head as I've never seen this term before?

My mums brothers have good hair. My uncle is about 55-60 and still has a strong mane of hair and a very small bald spot, but overall very well.

My father has different hair to me, very curly. He is now 55 and started going bald around his 5/10 years ago. But it's like his hair is getting less curly so to speak, and therefore thinning out and
becoming sparse, thus going bald at the top.

It's just odd that only my right side is like this. I'm starting to believe my right side has always been pretty much different to my left, as can be seen in previous photos, but is that normal? As my left side seems fine?

Its quite common to start progress early on the right side before the left. Left typically plays catch up with the right.

Thanks. Based on the old pics do you think I've always been a bit more recessed on my right side though? I'm trying to find pics from every year up to 4 years ago but it's proving hard.

Also, any chance I can save the right side and bring it to the level of my left temple?

For you and others the right is always going to be weaker than the left at all stages I would think. You're quite early, I would recommend Thyme Essential Oil (oral) for anti-inflammation and Minoxidil on the temples, I think you could easily restore the right if you do it properly. Also keep using Nizoral, it will keep your scalp from inflammation, which causes thinning of the hair.

Thanks for your suggestions. Sorry to sound like a total newbie but why "me and others"? I'm slightly confused? Is it my age?

How often should I take the thyme oil orally, and with the minoxidil, do I only rub it into my right temple, or should I also rub it into my left temple and/or the rest of my hair/scalp, and how often do I apply it?

What I meant by that was that its common for some people to thin on the right before the left, probably part of a the balding mechanism or genetics?

Also I'd take 2-3 tablespoons of Thyme Essential Oil with a full glass of water twice a day and I'd put Minoxidil on your whole hair line because looking at your Oyster picture your hair line was considerably stronger.

Ok, I will get the products within the next few days.

By stronger hairline do you mean more prominent? And should I shave my head to that level again to see if there are any noticeable differences? As that was an Army cut, "the one all over", from my days in the Cadets.

Also, if I do shave my hair, would this allow me to take proper measurements of my temple/hairline etc, so I can reassess it after 6 months or so? Do you recommend this?

Yes, your hairline was much more prominent and nice! I would recommend shaving to a 1 that would be much easier to record the results. Also remember to take daily pictures, in the same setting (lighting, angle etc) and post on here :)

Ok, I will hopefully shave it off within the next one or two weeks, so I can hide from my mates before they take the piss haha. Hopefully my hairline becomes prominent again after shaving it, plus with the Thyme Oil and Minoxidil.

Just had a quick look, is minoxidil the same thing as Rogaine? And wheres the best place to buy Minoxidil in the UK?

Boots sell it:

And yes, Rogaine's active ingredient is Minoxidil I believe.

http://www.amazon.com/Kirkland-Minoxidil-Strength-Regrowth-Supply/dp/B002VLZHLI

Unsure if they ship to UK, but this is FAR cheaper then what revitlize posted.

Thanks guys. I will try get the USA option, unfortunately this amazon usa seller doesn't ship to the UK. I'll post a few links tomorrow once I've done some research to see if people
on here think it's ok.

Just read a few reviews on Amazon. If I start using Minoxidil on my scalp, will my hair shed?

Yes.

Ok, that's quite scary. Will my hair definitely grow back, as tbh it's not too bad at the moment and I don't want to risk it if there's a chance the minoxidil will kill my hair or something.

Understandable. I would suggest shampoo with coal tar, laser combing and thyme oil. But consult your doctor beforehand.

Yes I'll be seeing my GP very soon. Will also look into the coal tar as I think I have some from my evzema days.

Anyone else with any other suggestions? You've all been very helpful.

Go see a hair transplant surgeon or a dermatologist (coin flip) get a better evaluation because if you are suffering from male pattern baldness. finasteride/dutasteride would be the first step into fighting it.

Whats so funny about that? Have you seen Fidus regrowth? Fools like you only follow authority, who spend money on finasteride to get man boobs, whilst delaying real cures. Big pharma love people like you who can supply you sugar pills in exchange for your hard earned cash, that way it makes no sense to spend money on research.

Anyways

Coal tar - makes the scalp photosensitive
Laser comb - supplies uv rays to scalp
thyme oil oral - has potent anti-inflammation action

You authority clown
