23/NW2/ REALLY NEED SOME HELP!

23 yeas old and my hairline has been receding a lot in the past year. Scared of where it might be by the time I'm 26.
Pretty much looks like how the NW2 pic looks. I will post up a pic later tonight if I can. It's been a tough thing to deal with.
I know many of you have it worse than I do, so my heart goes out to you guys. I'm feeling how tough it is to deal with hair loss. Not easy at all.

My two older brothers are also NW2's.
My dad is a NW3 now.

It's really only the hairline my family has a problem with. No balding around the crown or thinning on top between myself or anybody else in my family. The hair on my temples are thinning though. So the problems with my hair are the thinning on the temples and hairline receding.

So what I want to know are basically solutions to get back a hairline.
I know about the "BIG 3" but if any of you guys can give me some suggestions or your own results while you were on the big 3 that would be great.

GOAL: GET HAIRLINE BACK.

Any suggestions would help and I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks guys.:salut:

I've avoided finasteride, myself. S5, min and nizoral have helped modestly after about a year. With certainty, I can say that my hairline is slightly better than day one of begining treatments. If my vellus hairs mature, I will be ecstatic. Accept, right off the bat, that u may have to live through a shedding phase. During this time, ur hair may be at its worst. U have to go through this to experience improvements.

Thanks for the reply man.

Can you talk about your shedding experience after you started using Minoxidil? When did it occur? How long did the shedding phase last? How bad did it get?

Maybe it's just me here but, you sound a bit overly vain dude. You're not gonna get a NW1 back. That's going to take some serious firepower. At 21-22 I hit NW2, at 29 I was still a NW2, and at almost 30 now I'm a NW2.5.

What scares me is that you think it's bad to be your dad's age (which I assume is at least 42 or so) and be a NW3. I don't think you should start messing with drugs and shampoos until you are scared and/or certain that you will hit NW3 soon. If it is likely that you will progress like your father did, then I [personally] would just leave it be.

Just understand that people on here are trying to stop themselves from hitting NW5-7 status too fast. Also I think in the end everyone feels like they won't be on finasteride forever. Just long enough to wifey up and get past 35-40. Each drugs and product has its possible side effects and you ARE messing with your body's chemistry. Just be sure the risk is worth the reward. Informed decisions!

In summary, don't expect to get your hairline back. Not likely it will happen even on the big 3. Maybe I'm wrong can anyone else with more experience chime in here?

Sorry for never replying. Hopefully you know how to check for replies better than me, and hopefully you've started some type of regimen.

Shedding was not nearly as bad as I imagined, although my hairloss is not very aggressive (receding at the hairline corners, but not the front middle). It stared within the first month, and lasted about a year. After this time though, the shed hairs were back along with an army of vellus hairs. This was about the time I replied to your post. Has only got slightly better since then, but no worse than day one.

Same in my family but I was unlucky and followed a more severe flat out going bald pattern.

If its only your hairline count yourself as lucky. It can be fixed with a hair transplant once your loss is stabilized. I would try finasteride and nizoral first for at least a year. minoxidil is a pain and not all get results worth the work involved.

If you can't or don't want to take finasteride then grab your ankles and prepare urself as nothing else out yet thats proven to stop the loss.
