22yo Thinking Of Getting Temples Filled With A Hair Transplant

Hi guys,

I’ve really never found a great hairstyle that suits me. I’ve always been annoyed by my very straight and think hair, it’s lifeless. I started to rock buzzcuts and got quite a few compliments, however I am almost certain that it would look better if I could just get my temples done.

Is it too early to get a hair transplant at 22?

I am quite insecure regarding my hair, and would love to just get my buzz cut and live my life.

Not on any medicine btw

No man, you're absolutely too young for a hair transplant.

You could fill up the temples but who knows how your hair loss progresses in the coming years. You could end up with temples full of hair and the other part of the head bald. Would look weird and you'll regret it for the rest of your life.

If you would want to keep what you have now, you should start with propecia (finasteride) soon. The goal is to keep as much hair as you have. Imagine your hair when you're 40 and everyone around you is bald/balding.

Your temples look fine to me atm , if you are looking for any treatment I suggest finasteride and maybe minoxidil .

Listen, while that sounds practical in the sense of securing a low-risk outcome. Nobody in this generation is going to do that. They prefer to take the same risk in getting a hair transplant young, as a person would getting.on finasteride. Conservative hair transplant is fine to get, however he must bare in mind what risk could come from decision. No point in waiting till your 50; who cares then.

It is kinda as @random phone charger said. I know the balding pattern in my family is the temples, but nothing in the other areas. Basically I just want to be able to enjoy life and not think of hair. I mean who the f*** cares if you have a weird look when you’re 50, if you enjoyed life, then it would not really matter to me at least. Not sure if i want to take medicine, due to that might f*****g me up in the long term. I just want to wake up, and get on with my day without worrying about hair etc

The reason why I won’t start Propecia is mainly due to the the fact that I experience no thinning except just the temples. I’ve heard that propecia does jack sh*t for temple recession. Minoxidil is an option I guess, but I would go to a derm before hand.

OP - you don’t need any sort of transplant and won’t for at least a few years, maybe over a decade.

But yeah if it gets bad f*** it get a transplant. Better to look great when you’re young and weird when you’re older than meh throughout your whole life
