My hair still grows really fast and thick except for in just this one area. It kind of started a little less than a year ago when I finally started to work out a lot and I was taking a lot of supplements, my mom was saying it might be creatine so I stopped that. My hair also started getting really dry at one point and had a lot of dandruff so I used H&S to get rid of it, I don't have that problem anymore but now the hair loss is a lot more obvious to me. I keep my hair cut pretty short so no one notices it, but I can't got more than about 11 days without my hair growing to the point where I start to really notice it and I have to go and get my hair cut again. I like to keep my hair short anyways but now I have really no other choice but to do that and I fear it'll get worse somehow if I don't begin correcting the problem. Some advice is really needed, the situation is really starting to dominate my self esteem I don't think I could handle going bald at this age

No one can handle going bald when he is young. The best advice I can give you now is to start with the big 3 these are:

- Finasteride
- minoxidil
- ketoconazole

Start with treatment as fast as you can because the only treatments these day can mostly prevent further hair loss.
Good luck.

What would be the best source for the items listed, a quick search is indicating to me those are ingredients and not the actual products..

I was thinking of going and getting rogaine but apparently that causes you to lose hair before it maybe eventually works. That could be very damaging to me so I figured I wold ask around online first.

ehm, I get my finasteride from a description so I don't know where you can get them.

Minoxidil is something you can get everywhere, also your hair falls out then to make room for thicker ones and some regrowth. You can buy rogaine or lipogaine or just the cheap ones.

Ketoconazole is mostly in shampoos.

You have a similar thinning pattern as mine, thinning area at the front with no visible crown yet. I think you'll do good with finasteride, especially since you don't seem to have a receding hairline.

In the states, proscar is the brand for 5mg finasteride pills, that you would cut into quarters and take daily. It's dirt cheap since it is normally prescribed for enlarged prostates. You can ask your doctor for it, but not all doctors will prescribe them since in principal, you are taking it not for its purpose, but for a side effect i.e. more hair.
The alternative is Propecia which is exactly the same but the dose is 1mg per pill. This is incredibly overpriced considering that it's exactly the same as proscar. Doctors are more inclined to prescribe this, since you would be taking it with the right purpose... Stupid right?

So try to get proscar. If not from your doctor, go to a dermatologist or a hair transplant doctor. They are more willing to prescribe.

Buy Rogaine foam for the morning. It's undetectable however a little pricey. Also buy Kirkland minoxidil liquid for night time application. It's really cheap. You could order these items online.

Good luck.

Have you seen good results with that? That's the main reason for me coming here, seeing if anyone had a similar story as me and if they found something that worked.

Seems a little expensive to get both, but I could most likely do both the rogaine and kirkland does it last very long or? Also do you have to pay to see a dermatologist? I'm off tomorrow and i'll probably try to do that

Can't really say, I just started today. But you are doing the right thing and there are lots of people with experience here that can advice you on that.

People posting so far are correcct. But if you're going to use minoxidil you should absolutely get a keto shampoo as well, (either nizoral, regenepure, or revita) because you will end up with terrible itching and dandruff without it.
minoxidil comes in foam and liquid, the name brand rogaine is foam, but a generic brand like kirkland is liquid. Liquid makes your hair look like **** and leaves a obvious residue on your scalp, but you might be able to just put it on before bed and shower it off in the morning. I do a once a day treatment of minoxidil, but I do a double dose. So far I'm seeing good results.
Finasteride is annoying because my doctor wouldn't prescribe proscar and now I have to spend $40 a month on 1 mg finasteride pills when I could have just spent $9 for 5 mg proscar and split the pills. You need about 1 mg of finasteride in order for it to be most effective.

Basically, I'll just echo what everyone else has said. Get on the big 3 ASAP. You look like you're balding in an A pattern because your front central forelock is just as thin as the corners. Bad news, with an A pattern even minimal hair loss is very visible because it's all in the front. Good news, you can basically get back to full coverage later on in life with a hair transplant because you'll have less area to cover, as well as more donor hair than men that bald in the typical Norwood 6 pattern. I will say that there is a bright side to your situation that won't require a $20,000 surgery in the future. Your darker skin is more conducive to the completely bald look because your bald areas won't be as accentuated with darker skin because of the little difference in contrast between your hair color and skin tone. A lot of guys with darker skin can really pull off the look. But if that's not your thing, I can understand that. In the meantime, make sure to buzz your hair down with a 0 (no clipper guard) every few days to disguise the thinning in the front. You still have an intact hairline, so almost nobody would be privy to your thinning hair if it's kept super short. Good luck
