Hi everyone.

I have always had a fairly high hairline but I have been receding at the temples since I was about 16/17. The rate of recession has recently started to speed up (see picture), so I have been doing some research and began taking finasteride a few days ago. My hair is thick and quite wavy, especially when left to grow out. I have no problem at the crown or on top.

I was wondering if finasteride is the best way to go for receding hairlines? I'm aware it's most effective for the crown area and I have attached a poll to gauge its effectiveness. I am also aware that it is tricky to make any kind of gains on the hairline, but is there anything anyone has found that has been particularly effective?

Thanks guys and I will keep you updated on my finasteride usage.

Thanks for the reply. I've heard some good things about minoxidil. Is it worth paying out for Regaine, or is it just as good buying the generic lotion?

The goal is to maintain as much hair as you can as you age. Your hairline is the hardest to treat and get regrowth. Mostly likely in your situation, you will have to opt for a hair transplant to get a significant result. You have excellent hair characteristics for one so you have that in your favor.
