Hello, Im 23, Im Chinese and I live in the UK. My grandfather through my mothers side has always had thin hair but not completely bald and my dad (50 yo) has started to thin; which concerns me as I have started losing around 20-35 per day (in the shower).

Ive been noticing my hair becoming more and more thin all over my head throughout the past 9 months. It started becoming noticeably thin on the front and now the top and sides of my hairs have become thinner. Also the top of my head has thin patches of hair, and even more thin when wet (Although it looks thick when dry). I can almost see the scalp if I style my hair. I also noticed my hairline receding and i really dont know what going on. Went to doctors and had a iron and thyroid test and it came back positive...

Am I just over-reacting because of a maturing hairline/head of hair or am I actually going through male pattern baldness? Could this be stress related even though I have had those blood tests? Please take a look at my photos and let me know because I am confused and worried of losing all my hair before I turn 30! I hope I can prevent it or restore any hair that I have lost..

Take a look at my attached pics, Kevin

Looks like a normal full head of hair to me, though in the last picture there might be a tiny bit of discoloration and miniaturization - certainly not receeding at this point. All in all, looks like a thick, normal NW1 to me but I think it's good that you're aware of your family history in this regard and are trying to keep tabs on the situation. Everyone's hair looks thinner when wet.

I wouldn't be overly concerned yet but you can keep taking pictures of your hair every month or so (taking pics in identical conditions [lighting, angles, etc.] is paramount) and if you notice any further decline in the situation, you can re-evaluate and consider getting on a DHT-inhibitor. Until that day happens (if it does), I would not stress too much and enjoy life.
