Hello, I've attached some pictures

I'm not sure if it's simply because I have kind of long hair that it makes my hair look like that from behind (a hair whorl / cowlick i believe its called?) or that I am actually losing my hair.

did a little research but im still uneducated, should i immediately go on Finasteride if that is the case?

thank you

I apologize if I posted this in the wrong section

Your hairline is maturing because the widow's peak marks where your juvenile hairline starts. Your hairline is moving up somewhat from that reference point. Your crown area is slightly diffuse but you have naturally low density and fine hair so it could be normal for you. If you have a strong history of male pattern baldness then see a hair loss specialist to confirm if you should start finasteride.

"widow's peak marks where your juvenile hairline starts."
It's not true, because many guys with juvenile hairline have widow peak, I have my "\/"(widow peak) since young age.

So widow's peak marks it's not a good indicative for receding hairline.

Yeah widow's peak doesn't indicate receding hairline at all. Some people are born with them and some aren't, and you have them as a kid so they're unrelated to male pattern baldness. I used to have a widow's peak when I was younger, but then it receded away...so I guess if it goes away it can indicate male pattern baldness.

This guy has a widow's peak but no male pattern baldness:

This was take from Baldingblog from Dr Rassman who is a hair transplant expert:

Maybe we have the definition of a widow’s peak confused. A widow’s peak is the small triangular point on the front middle of the hairline that extends downward as low as the highest wrinkle of the furrowed brow. I am about to publish an article on the evolution of the hairline, and in that article I point out that the widow’s peak is actually a genetic remnant in the middle of your childhood hairline. Yep, the widow’s peak is just a genetic hold-over of the juvenile hairline.

The widow’s peak has nothing to do with balding, and I can simply point to the actor Andy Garcia as a good example of this. He has a strong hairline and pronounced widow’s peak. In women, some erosion of the hairline occurs as they mature and 81% of women have a widow’s peak, which reflects a phenotype of their genes in that location.

With respect to a hair transplant, some ask to create the triangle widow’s peak, though some may not want it. It is merely a personal cosmetic decision / point of view.
