Hey as the title says I'm 21 years old and after seeing my hair wet for the first time in a while, I realized I am sadly but surely balding. I attached a flickr link to show where I am currently at. When my hair is dry I'm golden, but when its wet its a horror. I've been trying to do some research but I'm curious as where to start with trying to "help" this occurrence. Should I just bite the bullet and shave my head now? Any tips? Ideas? All help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm confused, your hair looks fine. Maybe it's receding a bit in front? I don't know.

Your hair is fine at the moment. You probably are experiencing some early thinning at the hairline and anterior scalp, but it's quite minor. Shave your head if you want. I wouldn't. I'd look at the tabs at the top of this page, see where it says *start here*, I recommend starting there!

In one hand you're out of luck like all the guyz with male pattern baldness, but in the other hand you're a lucky too...yes your are^^
One of the most important thing with Androgenetic Alopecia is to catch it early, and it would be your case if you bite the bullet.
So go with the BIG 3 and you would probably be above your baseline for the next 5 years, and by that we'll have better treatmeants like CB replicel Histogen, so again above your baseline for the next 5 years, and by that in 10 years maybe a real CURE with TSUJI LAB, Regeneration, Cristiano, Jahoda etc..
So only advice for you is BIG 3 :)

In the space of only a year, during 2013, we have got so many REAL breaktroughs news about male pattern baldness. Every day we know a little bit more about the COMPLEX mechanism of this disease and the follicle mechanism..
Only the pessimist and DEPRESSED guyz all over the internet will tell you that we will never have a cure in our lifetime... same guyz who are comparing finasteride, dutasteride to the evil....LOL

Hmm, then I guess I'm lucky to be a 21 year old NW2 who just got on finasteride. Hopefully I can maintain until there's a cure. :p

I feel as though the top of my head is where it is the worst. In the pictures where my hair is wet and combed forward you can see so much scalp. That can't be normal right?

Hi CJP. You should go and get it assessed with a Dermatologist or a Trichologist first so they can examine your scalp and see if you have Male Pattern Baldness. I'm only 19 but my hair is way worse than yours I'm like a NW3 and I wished I started Regaine as soon as I was 18. To me your hair looks really great when dry like thick and everything :) Everyone's scalp is more visible when your hair is wet that's normal! But seriously go and get it checked out. It maybe be nothing but if there is a problem at least you can attack it right from the beginning so it will at least keep what you have which is a great head of hair! Best of luck to you sir!

Huh you really think we could have a cure in 10 years?

We actually have had a cure for a number of years... except this guy hasn't done anything about it:

Not bad. You definitely have male pattern baldness, but you've caught it at a good time. You could have caught it a bit earlier, but you've still caught it early enough that you can maintain the appearance of a mature but non balding hairline.

Just be thankful that you caught it at a good time and that there are effective treatments that are easily found and relatively cheap. I'm not totally sure, I think you have some hairline thinning, but maybe happychineseboy is right, maybe it isn't male pattern baldness, maybe it's another type of hairloss. Go see a specialist for diagnosis
