Hello to everyone out there!

I could really use some advice, since this hairloss sh*t is on my mind all day long -.-

So my situation is the following:

I am a 21 years old male, who is experiencing a maturing hairline. I am not sure If it is only a maturing hairline, but nevertheless it is constantly on my mind. Like 24/7.

I am now considering going on Propecia, because I would like to get this sh*t out of my head. I just want to live my young years not worrying about hair loss. I have been reading about Propecia for a while now, I’ve heard all the scary stories and basically there is only one thing I am afraid of and that is the brainfog. I am studying at a business school and I really want to keep my avarage up throughout the last 2 years I have left.

I know high temples run in my family, but the thing is that I have a half-brother on both my moms and dads side.

The half-brother on my moms side has lived a really unhealthy life (smoking, very bad nutrition & depression) and he is almost bald. Very high temples, but plenty of hair around the crown. He is 35 years old btw.

The half-brother on my dads side has high temples aswell, but not as high. When he does not put his hair backwards he actually seems like he has a full head of hair & and he is 50 years old.

Besides this I have two other brother (same mom&dad) both with high temples but no hair loss, they are 24&27.

My question is basically just, can I save some of my hairline on Propecia and is it worth it?

I just want to take it until I am 30-35, and more in peace with high temples/baldness. I will also add a picture of my hair styled.

I will attach some pictures - these were taken when I thought my hairline was the worst, greasy hair after a few days without washing.

Thank you in advance guys!

I would not get on propecia for such minor hairloss if any, some horror stories you read are true and some are hypochondriacs but since it happened to me i strongly advise you to just monitor for couple years (bear with it) then get a transplant since your family history is good and u see no further hairloss

What did you experience if I may ask?

I don’t really care about temporarily dick dysfunctionality, I only really care about the brain fog and so on

I would say hop on finasteride, if you get sides then simply stop and they will go away. Most people get no sides from finasteride, the most common is libido problems not mental.

My side effects were mostly sexual related and they still persist 3 months after quitting, no brainfog or anything mental

Thanks for the answers guys!

This bringe me to another question, If I were to get on Finasteride, Which brand is then the best? I live in Denmark, and saw Propecia being sold, but it was quite expensive (400$) for 24 weeks

They are all the same, i use actavis 1mg, but whatever you get they are the same disregarding fillers.

Id get brand propecia and starting a very low dose in your shoes maybe 0.25 mg or even less, will save you alot of money

Mind you i developed horrific sides at exactly that dose. Guess i was genetically predisposed to get fucked anally by baldness and orally by finasteride

Most side effects shows themselves immediately then go away, watery semen for example can be a side effect that people get but tends to go away. I don't think you should be afraid tbh...more people experience sides on minoxidil than they do finasteride imo. I experienced no sides on finasteride but got them on minoxidil.

Around 10 days, sounds crazy i know but shits hit me like a truck then a urologist i visited prescribed me sh*t strong antibiotics at high dosage which were ototoxic and now i have tinnitus and brainfog as well.

Its like my body keeps all the nasty toxic f*****g sh*t from everything pharmaceutical. Before finasteride i never used any other drugs maybe a mild antibiotic when i was a kid for some nasty fever.

In the exact same boat, minor hair loss and scattered family history driving me a little insane. What I did is see my GP who was pretty adamant that Finasteride is safe and got a prescription from him. Have yet to fill it but I think I will if it gets worse, it is somewhat comforting having it the back pocket knowing it’s there for me if I need it. I would say my hair loss is pretty similar to yours in severity

The worst part is just the constant uncertainty, I used to be good with girls and such, now i constantly look at my hair in every mirror or car window i walk past

It has taken some time and I’m still not completely over it but it’s important to remember that your hair right now is perfect in everyone else’s eyes. My girlfriend thinks I’m insane for worrying because my hair right now looks fine. Trust me no one else besides the people on this forum would notice, and even they wouldn’t notice unless they took the time to really look at your hair.

Yeah, I just want to not worry about it

I actually could not care if I was bald, as long as I won’t feel hindered by it

Also there’s a decent chance it never gets to a noticeable point. I’d say in our situation we can be fairly confident that we will lose some more hair in our life, but it’s possible it’s a slow moving progression that isn’t visible to others until we are much older. Just my two cents.

Yeah because your hair loss isn't that bad, try having no crown. People will notice.
