21 Years Old. Is It Time To Shave My Head?

I started noticing a bald spot when I was 17. It was very small and barely noticable, I thought it was normal. By 19 it was more noticable but not a big concern. Fast forward to 21 which is now and I feel like it's gotten 1000x worse. A month and a half ago on January 1 I began using rogaine foam 5% twice a day as well as taking biotin in the morning. I also began using Nizoral 3x week this month. That being said I began growing out my hair for the first time in a year and I couldn't believe how much more obvious the thinning and balding is.

Granted I just began treatment of it, but based on how bad it is already, is there any hope of having a significant improvement to where the male pattern baldness wouldnt be noticable at all? Just want to hear other people's opinions. Should I just shave it at this point?

Also what would I be considered on a norwood scale? Thanks in advance

Diffuse thinning in an NW6 pattern. Currently your loss doesn't really fit into the Norwood scale. You should give finasteride and minoxidil a go, your hair loss is recent, you could get a great response like Raz, worth a shot.
Until then just keep it short/stubbly.

Think I'm definitely going to buzz it down to a 1 or no-guard. I'm not going to try finasteride for personal reasons but I might stay on minoxidil only because I have 2 more months of supplies left and also use the rest of my nizoral and biotin. If there's no massive improvement by then I'll discontinue use altogether.

Thanks for the responses so far

That's pretty aggressive, what you should do really depends on how you looking with it shaved. If your facial features and head shape suit a shaved look then in all honesty I think you should just leave it as going on minoxidil and finasteride is very unlikely to bring back your hair, I'm not saying it is impossible just unlikely.

So in short, shave it, get on with your life but keep an eye on it. Come back in 5 years time to see what new treatments are available that may help you.

Agreed, you need a very aggressive plan.

I wouldnt shave it. Keep it short and swept up and back.

If you have a hair transplant on the front at least you will frame your face.

Dont be so worried about losing the back if you cant stop it with meds.

honestly if you are a good responder to meds , dutasteride and minoxidil 15 % could give you very good result .
Try it for 12 month then come back

Maybe you should buzz it down and see if you like how it looks. Have you shaved your head bald before?

Thanks fir all the honest answers so far. Sounds like shaving it or atleast buzzing it extremely short is the general consensus around here, which I kind of figured. Finasteride is a no-go for me and I'm not sure I would want to pay for a hair transplant so I guess it's the only reasonable option to buzz it

Ya I have, I didn't look horrible but I think I like anybody else probably look better with hair. It's alright though, can't do much about genetics
